    Love this set
My daughter’s Montessori school uses this set, and since she was starting to get very interested in reading, I bought the set to continue teaching her over the summer. She loves the books, and I love that they gradually level up with new vowel sounds, include a list of sight words at the beginning, and aren’t super boring like most beginning readers are. Very grateful to have these at home and will be buying the next set once she’s mostly mastered this set!

Great books for 5 year old
We bought these to supplement our 5 year olds reading time and they have been great. We noticed that since they do not have color and the pictures are basic, she’s far less distracted and can focus on the words. By the 4th book she was self directing her reading and by the last one she was reading by herself with no prompting. She’s proud of her progress and eager to get to the second set!

I like the readers because they are effective in helping students …
I have used Primary Phonics for many years to help kids develop phonics skills for reading. I like the readers because they are effective in helping students learn word decoding skills. Students get plenty of practice with the vowel patterns that are introduced in each book and each book incorporates the vowel patterns introduced in the preceding book. There is a gradual introduction to more complex vowel patterns. Long vowel pattern words are introduced immediately after students learn the short vowel pattern in simple c-v-c words and before word patterns that have beginning and ending blends and short vowel sounds. This is critical because it helps students develop flexibility in decoding vowel patterns. The stories are simple but generally engaging for young students. The purpose of these phonics books is helping kids develop phonics skills and they are excellent for that purpose. Encourage children to use their thinking skills as they read these books but don’t rely on them to teach reading comprehension.

Buy it wish I found earlier
This is the book series my child’s school uses and I bought to help supplement at home. I love them and wish I would have found them sooner. I’m not a professional so I can’t quite say how they flow or work or why they work but my daughter is flying through them with ease after struggling. She is able to retain the new words learned in each book and enjoys the little story. The print is clear decent size and the b/w images keep her from being distracted in my opinion. The pages are typical weight paper and do need to be handled gently but not an issue for my family.I also bought the corresponding work book and love it as well.

These books are amazing for teaching kids how to read
These books are amazing for teaching kids how to read. They use these in my son’s montessori preschool classroom and we bought a set for the house. Kids should have a good foundation in letters and more importantly letter sounds before starting these books. In this first set, they are mostly working on the short vowel sound and CVC words. There’s usually a sentence on each page with an interesting picture. We started with this set and have been slowly progressing into the next sets. 16 pages to read per book which was a lot for my son when we first started so we typically bookmarked halfway through.

    great tool for reading
My daughter attends Montessori and I wanted to do additional work at home with her reading. These books are perfect for her (she’s 4.5). They are slightly challenging, but give her enough confidence that she wants to read them.

These little phonics books are a must for early readers!
I love these little books for teaching a child to read! It is difficult to find early readers actually designed to teach a child to read text out there. I’ve used them to teach reading both to Kindergartens & First Graders during my 32 years as a primary teacher. I have always loved these phonics readers as the CVC words are perfectly decodable as they feature just one vowel per book & build on the vowels already introduced in the previous books. I bought these for my 5 year old granddaughter who is in Kindergarten. She is so excited about being able to read these little stories & takes great pride in her success!

Oldest son used this in his private school to learn to read, using it for younger siblings to learn to read. I really like that it is phonics based and not very many sight words. Pictures are cute and not too distracting, kids enjoy reading these series!

We used these books for a little guy with dyslexia. He is loving them. I used them years ago when teaching children with reading difficulties and they were successful as they are so phonetically written. Success is so important for these children and these books made that happen. They are pricey though.

These books are ok if a child needs support for reading phonics and are struggling a bit with CVCs. However, they are in black and white and the stories are not very engaging. I use them as back up take home reading books.
