I almost hate to say it – better than my Water Pik
I “almost hate to say it” because, decades ago when I was a teenager, my mother bought me the very first Water Pik model ever made to clean my metal railroad track braces. I’ve been a daily, loyal user ever since.Because I was at a boarding school at the time, I saw the struggles of the other boys who had braces too: flicking with their toothbrushes, getting floss caught in the hardware on their teeth, with little luck. In two minutes, I had all the food blasted out of my braces. The only thing that felt better was finally getting my braces off.But I kept using it, to this day amazed how few people know about, understand, or are interested in water flossing. It’s one of the greatest dental inventions ever, and everyone should do it. After many years, Water Pik was able to print on their box “50% more effective than flossing”. I have no doubt that’s true. I have tooth gaps that yield an astonishing amount of food every night stuck in there, all released and down the drain with water flossing. Which means: food NOT sitting in there and fermenting against my teeth and gums. Follow up with (electric) tooth brushing and you’ve done about the best that can be done. For a few years in my twenties, I slacked off completely, ignored dental hygiene, and things got bad. Canker sores, the whole nine yards. The only dentist I went to back then was so alarmed he said: “Come back when you have gums again”, and told me to brush and floss vigorously before he’d do any other work. I got back into the Water Pik habit and, more than forty years later, my current dentist rates my gum health as very good. (I looked it up: the majority of people my age have gum disease of some kind. Plus, gum health contributes to bone health. I now have four dental implants. You can’t get those unless you have the bone to support them. It’s all intimately connected.)Anyway, make no mistake: Water Pik is an excellent product and a pioneer company. They invented the entire idea, and kept going. But the unit I most recently had was finally getting decrepit (after a long, long time of nightly use). I looked carefully before simply ordering another. And decided to try the Philips Sonicare Power Flosser 7000. I am glad I did.Powerful, remarkably quiet, convenient. (Note: I have NOT tried the newest Water Piks, so cannot directly compare.) It’s actually nice, just before bedtime, to *quietly* water floss. That may sound trivial, but low noise does help for staying in a relaxed mood to get to sleep. I have been using it for a month, and am very pleased with the nightly results. The water pressure dial is great, easy to use, and “goes up to 11” if you like the full blast. (I do. Good gum massage.) On that setting, it will blast way harder than my previous Water Pik. Go gentler if that’s your speed. The handle easily snaps magnetically into place when you’re done, another convenience for less fuss.My personal tip: mix warm water with hydrogen peroxide. If you have the standard 3% hydrogen peroxide, about 1/3 that + 2/3rds warm water is about right for me. Then water floss with that, and rinse. I’m convinced the resulting oxygenation helps suppress the bacteria that contribute to gum deterioration, and my dentist’s approval of my gum health is at least some evidence of that. Peroxide has long been used as a “mouthwash”. (Like any mouthwash, just don’t swallow it.)Dental health, the daily job. Believe me when I say: water flossing is a huge convenience, and this product is a first-rate device for getting it done better and faster.

Very Quiet and Looks Good
I had an old water flosser, but it was very loud and did not look that sleek. After buying this, however, my bathroom feels much better since I don’t have to deal with an annoying motor sound. It works very well functionally, too. I recommend this product.

Great machine
Canât imagine how quiet this machine is. I use almost lowest level and it works perfectly.

Saw improvements in the condition of my teeth immediately.
Works as advertised. You feel exceptionally clean after using it. Only two problems:1) the reservoir leaks if itâs left filled overnight. Always make sure itâs completely empty when youâre not using it.2) the app is useless, and somehow changed the behavior of the brush (incidentally it only works with the brush, not the flosser). Deep Clean Cycle usually goes for 3 minutes, with beeps every 30 seconds to tell you to change sections. Super useful. I do my bottom-left molars, then my bottom-right, then top-right, top-left, then top incisors and canines, then finally bottom incisors and canines. However, when I tried pairing the cycle with the app, it reduced the cycle to 2 minutes, with only 20 seconds in between beeps. It was awkward, and I didnât really feel I had completely cleaned each section by the time the buzzer went off.Ultimately, These are minor nitpicks in an otherwise great product.

Flakey pump from the get go, extra modes are gimmicks, fully broke at 1 year.
The pump would seem temperamental just after a few days, where it would randomly stop and start no matter what mode it was in, what nozzle, or if there even was a nozzle! Finally completely failed and I took it apart, one hose junction immediately snapped, and then the other did as well. While the controller appeared to have power, the motor was no longer running. For the price, the internals are absurdly cheap plastic, and had no water seals or protection to boot.Since the hoses broke, I didn’t look any further into if the motor had completely failed, or the ‘backflow’ sensor was the culprit.I had owned a similar ‘waterpik’ device from Phillips years prior, which died due to a brittle hose. I hoped they had improved the product over the years, but alas this isn’t the case. While I have other undying products from this brand, this line of products is cursed for me. I’ll explore other brands for my ‘waterpik’ needs.

Expensive but Worth Every Penny
WaterPik pioneered the water flosser, and I’ve been loyal to them for decades. Daily use of a water flosser, combined with plackers as needed and brushing, has given me healthy gums that almost never bleed when flossed. WaterPik’s usually have lasted me a few years, but I’ve had trouble with the last two machines I’ve bought from them. One of them leaked and the other stopped working altogether after a two-month trip away from home. I tried an even cheaper knockoff and it was terrible. So I took a deep breath and paid four or five times as much for the Philips Sonicare. I was worried about the capacity of the water reservoir, since it wasn’t given in the specifications, but in fact it was fine: about 1/2 liter. The Philips is quieter than any of the others but powerful, and without the hammering effect of some other machines. It’s beautifully designed and engineered. I’ve only had it a couple of months so I can’t speak to durability but it certainly looks like it’s made to last. It feels like a wise investment.

Big Difference
I wish I had added this to my dental routine years ago. My teeth feel cleaner after adding this to my routine. Got one on my dentist’s recommendation. I do this first, then floss, then brush. The comment that good oral hygiene is good for your heart applies to me – I’m in my 70’s and have normal blood pressure with no medication.

The best ( 4 months after purchase)
Believe me! I tried other brands and this is the only one is not noisy with great futures, but read instructions, I read some silly bad reviews that they had nothing to do with the product, and the quality is excellent!!!!

I have been waiting to write this review but first I wanted time to experience the flosser with it’s various features and nozzles. Now that THAT has happened, here is my review. I should tell you that I have used a WaterPik flosser for many years. I always thought that WaterPik had the edge over water flossers UNTIL I tried this Philips water flosser.I got to tell you that I can’t say enough good things about this 7000 model. The first and most important to me was the quietness of the water pump. I now can floss late at night without waking up the house. This model has all the bells and whistles: 4 modes, 3 nozzles, 10 intensity settings, a 30-second pacer (if desired) that indicates when you should move to the next quadrant of your mouth, Pulse-Wave Technology for two of the modes, Magnetic Docking for the handle when not in use, a 600 ml reservoir with a hinged lid, control of the water flow on the handle. The first three modes: CLEAN, DEEP CLEAN and SENSITIVE are used to remove food particles from around your teeth. The fourth mode, MASSAGE is to use water in a gentle flow to massage your gums. All the modes are wonderful so it is really a matter of personal choice as to what you prefer at any given session. The nozzles: the Standard nozzle ejects water like any water flosser, the Comfort nozzle is quite unique in the sense that it can touch your tooth and not slide off, as the rubber end acts like a brake for an exacting wash, the Quad Stream nozzle works similarly to the Comfort nozzle because it has a rubber tip as well but the squirting pattern is in four directions at once. I am NOT convinced that the Quad Stream nozzle is BETTER than the other nozzles, just different.I should also note the three nozzles come in a very practical plastic case with the intent to store them in the case between flossings. The Pacer, which essentially is a timer that indicates that your 30 seconds are up and time to move on to the next quadrant of your mouth. The indication is in the form of a 1-2 second pause of the water pump as opposed to an audio beep. Personally, I turned the pacing feature off.Having a hinged lid on the reservoir ….. I really hadn’t thought about it before as the WaterPik units have a detached lid or cover. But I actually close the lid when I am flossing now because I believe it keeps the water at a stable temperature without cooling. And finally, the Magnetic Docking of the handle is a really cool and simple feature. Click and it is attached to the unit.In some of the other reviews I have read, people have mentioned water leaks. I have not experienced unintended water leaks from the handle, the hose or the reservoir. Mind you, I use ALL 600 ml of water each flossing and wipe everything dry until the next time as opposed to some who leave a supply of water in the reservoir so they don’t have to keep filling it. Whether that contributes to leaks, I have no idea. When you are done flossing, detach the nozzle, blow out any drops of moisture and store it in the case. Shake out the handle in the sink ….a couple of drops of water may come out ….wipe the handle and the reservoir dry until next use.Anyways, as you can conclude, I am TOTALLY happy with my purchase. It truly DOES blow WaterPik away and the manufacturer has a two-year warranty.

Because our son had an expander installed and braces, it was very hard to clean under the expander plate/around the braces with floss or that small syringe they give you at the orthodontist. Sometimes, food would get stuck under the expander plate and just sit there to create an infection (we found out the hard way).Be bought this and a world of difference. It was able to take out popcorn kernels to vegetables stuck between the plate and the roof of his mouth.I set it at 5 or less so it doesn’t cause his gums to bleed or be in pain. 10 is pretty strong. I’d recommend starting at a low setting and going up depending on what is needed and how much food is still there. You need to drain the water out of the tank after every use and leave the lid open to dry out. We removed the cleaning pique from the machine to let it dry on its own as well.We stopped using it now that the expander or braces are gone, but it certainly will be used again for Stage 2.

I love this setup. I’m obsessed with how easy and efficient this is to use. Great to travel with using the case it came with.
