    Better than expected
My 7 year old is a phonetic speller. Meaning she spells how it sounds. So, love is Luv, was is wus and so on. This book has helped tremendously. Totally worth it!

    Confusing Word search
I thought I would thoroughly enjoy this book until I got to the word search. My daughter was having a hard time when there were so many of the same word. Also, the word ant was on there a couple times, but if you crossed-out the wrong ant you wouldn’t be able to find the word an.

Too-Hard words mixed with the easier, beginner words. + bad font choice
I like the layout of the book, and the activities are fun. My complaint is that it doesn’t systematically increase in difficulty. Each lesson has a mix of challenging sight-words mixed in, beyond the capability of the student. It does not teach by a phonogram system, either. For example, in Lesson 3, they are learning 3-letter words of “sit, hit, fit, bit”. They throw in words such as “with, near, they, and all” too. The student has not learned the “th” phonogram by then, nor the “ey” or “ea” phonograms. My students were very frustrated with all that they were having to memorize, rather than be able to sound out, or reinforce their lesson that day. It stripped them of their confidence. We had to set the book aside and return to it only as a review once they were much further along in their spelling and reading skills. If you are looking for something to reinforce their skills as they increase each week, this is NOT the book for your student. Also, the font they chose was poor. The lower-case “L”, just like in this font here, has a curved tail. To a young student, it can easily be confused as a backward “J”, or a curved uppercase “L”. A more-standard, straight font would have been better, like the “Decker” font.

    Grammar incorrect.
There is a page where you have to put the correct spelling word “and” into the sentence. However, they have chosen a grammatically incorrect sentence. Me and my friend … should say My friend and I . ” me” is used when you are the object.” I “is used when you are the subject. He likes my friend and me. My friend and I like him.

Très bon ouvrage, toutefois il faut déjà que l’enfant ait un bon niveau de lecture et compréhension anglaise, donc pour des francophone a ne pas prendre pour des enfants de 5 ans.
