Navigating life by learning skills early on!
Author Karen Harris offers an excellent ‘life guide’ for kids – an intelligent, resourceful, enlightened and easily accessible list of attributes worthy of attention to pre-teenagers. As Karen states in the Intro, ‘There are two things hat most kids and pre-teens wish they had: a driver’s license and being old enough to do what they want so fewer people (parents included) can boss them around…Life skills prepare you for, well, the rest of your life. They’re lessons my parents taught me, such as how to handle conflict, manage time, and prioritize responsibilities. There are also some practical day to day lessons, like how to run a dishwasher, do your laundry, and call 911 in case of an emergency.’In that user-friendly fashion, the topics discussed include understanding yourself, learning from failure, making good decisions, staying positive, goal setting, understanding good communication, handling emergencies, chores and practicing independence, earning and saving money, operating appliances, using a compass and reading a map, how to dress appropriately, banish negative thinking, dealing with bullies, creating stem challenges and much more. Truly, these are important things to know – a valuable primer for kids (of all ages..!!!). Recommended

    Pretty good book
I ordered this book for my son and nephew. It teaches, educates, provides morals and values based on the author’s life experiences, which I have those same morals and values as well. We really enjoyed reading about bullying, effective communication, and making good decisions/choices. There are many life lessons that any child can read in this book. Good one!

Seems fantastic so far! Great for all ages!
I bought this for my niece. I’m reading it myself first and I’m only on page 13 so far but it seems to be a great book for any age as long as they can read and understand or you could even read it to someone. I hope my niece reads this because I know she will benefit from it but now I’m thinking my nephew that’s a few years older may want to read it. I’m honestly feeling like every child should read this… and its probably not bad if adults read this as well. I also recommend for people that think they make a lot of mistakes or have some depression issues… seems to help with self worth! only reading as much as I have, I feel it’s very beneficial! It’s worth the price for sure. I am poor so I’m hoping I can get my niece and nephew to share the book vs me needing to buy them their own. LolI highly recommend this book and once I finish it, if I feel differently, I will update this review!

    My daughter likes it
My daughter finds it funny and informative. My daughter and I have an open, honest relationship but anything that can increase her self awareness and knowledge of the world is good for us. We then discuss any topics she wants to further. Good easy read.

    Good content, Terrible delivery
My son is 11 and reads at a 3rd grade level.I am an avid reader of non-fiction books and will tell you this book was published prematurely. I typically shy away from leaving bad reviews but I wish I had paid better attention to the objective reviews that pertained to this book; it wasn’t worth the money. It seems this book was not properly edited. I’m not as put out by the misspellings as I am with the disorganization. As an example, you’ll read things like ‘ 2 points on this topic ‘ and then 3 ambiguous points will follow. It is up to the reader to synthesize the points all on their own which is a special skill most adult readers do not possess let alone their children.Since the data is not well organized, my son lost steam over reading it in the middle of chapter 5… I don’t blame him cause I was witness to it’s incessant mis-delivery. It double backs on things it has already said elsewhere but in a distracting way, not a succinct way.I would say this book is not“neurodivergent-friendly”.I can’t imagine it is neurotypical-friendly either but that’s just a guess.Either way, this book should be professionally edited and republished for youth consumption in order to be worth any amount of money.
