Great Pictures and Interesting Content for Little Decodables!
I gave this set to the Before/Aftercare at school (along with other decodable book sets) since they didn’t have anything decodable for early readers and I’ve actually seen kids reading them, so I’d say it’s a hit! The little books are not meant for the very beginning since they are not initially decodable if the child can only sound out CVC words like cat and top; these are meant for kids that are maybe a year or two into learning to read once they have learned about “magic e” and other long vowel spelling patterns (usually end of 1st grade/beginning of 2nd is when they learn these, but should be explicitly taught since they cannot be sounded out the same way as short vowels).

Awesome books!
My 8 year old needed help reviewing the basic phonic rules. These books are perfect! He loves learning so these non fiction books are perfect to keep his interest. I have him re-read them and it builds so much confidence. The books are about 8 pages long. One or 2 sentences on a page. Perfect for improving skills without being overwhelmed with a lot of print. I’m going to order another set with R controlled phonics covered.

Phonics is the way reading is taught nowadays. I have a first grader. Of all the books my child has tried out so far, these have been the best. Highly recommended!

Theses are book books that target a certain reading skill just as they advertise. I just wish they were a bigger book, versus approx 5â by 5â, and had multiple sentences on each page like the jolly phonics little readers do.
