I read other reviews that said this was not accurate but for the price I was willing to take a chance. The one I received gives accurate readings as far as I can tell. I compared the readings to a more expensive thermometer/hygrometer I had as well as to my Nest thermostat and they all had very similar readings so I feel comfortable in relying on it. I am using it in an egg incubator and another reviewer stated that it provided inaccurate results in their incubator. Mine is a small forced air incubator and I needed something small to fit in it. I also receive temperature readings that are inconsistent with the reading on my incubator but I have found my incubator has warmer and cooler spots depending on where I place this in the incubator, I think this is to be expected because of the physics of warm air rising and the proximity of the incubatorâs temperature sensor to the heating element where this sits lower in the incubator and closer to the edge of it where heat conduction is also a factor with the cooler walls of the incubator. I have another thermometer I used to calibrate my incubator at the level the eggs sit in it and I use this mostly for the humidity readings which appear to be quite accurate.

Accuracy is questionable
Seems to be inaccurate but fairly repeatable. Cannot be calibrated and 2 of the 3 that I bought are off by about 5%. They are consistently off by 5%, so still usable.

I got this to keep in the case with a mandolin. It’s not an expensive instrument, so I’m not rabid about accuracy. I don’t have anything to check it against, but if it’s within a couple of percentage points, that’s all I need. And I’ve no reason think it’s less accurate than that. It comes to a reading pretty quickly. First time I checked it I learned that I was probably overdoing humidification a bit. Good thing to find out. I give accuracy 4 out of 5 only because I don’t know.The size is good for keeping in the case of a small instrument like a mandolin, violin, or ukulele. I haven’t had it long enough to be able to speak to battery life. It came with batteries installed, and two extra ones – a nice touch, unless it’s indicative of short battery life. Time will tell. I give battery life 4 out of 5 because I don’t know yet.The display is easy to read. The readout shows both temperature and humidity, with humidity the most prominent, which is what I want in this case (if you’ll pardon the expression). The temperature readout is in Fahrenheit. The box indicates that it’s a Fahrenheit sensor, so no changing it Celsius. At the price, I wouldn’t really expect that. Because it’s not explicitly sold as a musical instrument case hygrometer, it’s significantly less expensive than those that are. I’ll probably be buying another one.

Very inconsistent and inaccurate
I ordered 4 or these and a couple of them reflect similar readings, but a couple show very different readings. Pictured are 2 units side-by-side having sat in the same room for over an hour. I don’t believe that one can depend on the accuracy of these. Temperature seems accurate, but the humidity is way off between one and the other.

Buy more than you think you need. They are properly calibrated +/_ and I use them with confidence in my 3 humidor. All of the units I bought passed the salt test +/- .5%, and temp test +/-0 using my calibrated survey thermometer. I’ve put them in my orchid rack,area where I keep my project lumber, tested it the freezer and fridge, and in the formal living dining room were I have inherited painting and furniture. Wood needs moisture and without it the joints dry out and someone could collapse a chair.Everyone I ordered works within spec. Ps all my cigar buddies will get one for a stocking stuffer

It’s in Fahrenheit. Sold in Saudi ArabiaThis is less a review of the item and more the fact that it’s in Fahrenheit while being sold here, where we only use Celsius. It’s pretty much useless to me. And it does state in the description that it’s in Fahrenheit but I don’t expect items sold here to be in Fahrenheit the same way I don’t expect items to require 110V here
