    Great grabber
This one is a great length. I have purchased more than one of this exact item because it is better made than other ones that I have owned. It holds tight, can grab very small items, and can lift a substantial weight. My oldest one is four years old and still works like new!I have even been able to grab and drag my 5 pound heavy duty quad cane several times when it fell out of reach of my chair. I keep the grabber by my chair at all times. I also have them in other rooms, such as my bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. I highly recommend this one.

    Useful for anyone!
I love this grabber so much that I have bought 3 of them over the past couple of years to keep in different rooms so there is always one handy. I have bought other types, but this one is the best for picking up almost any small thing off the floor and for grabbing things that are hard to reach without having to get down on the floor or get up on a ladder. I don’t think this type would be able to pick up heavy cans or other things that are very weighty, but for most everything else, this one makes life a lot easier. You can’t imagine how the times this item can come in handy until you have one!

Great grabber to reach small and large things
Using during recovery hip surgery, and works very well. The double tooth on the end of the moving part of the claw works great to pick up small and large items. Claw has good leverage with the cord from the trigger. An excellent design.

Works well, could need some improvements.
As someone with limited mobility, my limits are my ability to bend down to pick up things off the floor since I’ve had surgery for my scoliosis (years ago). So I’m not new to trying out reachers. What caught my eye was the foldable feature with this one, which would be great for any outside mishaps for me in cases where no one can help me.Conclusion after testing:Outdoor usage- definitely not going to try yet(I will maybe buy another to fiddle with to make it more functional to my needs) but will need to have adjustments made. (Will explain through further pointers.)Indoors usage- is usable as a reacher, to an extent. Really heavy objects you’re trying to pick up that are farthest from your reach might pull apart the reacher… 😐 Found this out while sorting laundry, and towels and winter dresses. This is due to the fact that (from what I’m guessing) the collapsable feature is simply pulling the reacher apart.Which also causes instability of the whole reacher when you shake it side to side, you’ll feel the little wiggle from the connector part not being flushed enough to hold the two pieces together. That adding on to the “trigger” part of the reacher, causes more troubles picking up items possibly. The “trigger” is not snug in it’s chamber, you can wiggle it side to side as well. It’s also pretty thin that it hurts when picking up bigger items. That is what it’s for though. Cups, phones, laundry, bags, there’s a variety of items that could end up on your floor on accident, and using a sturdy reacher that helps more than be iffy is above all what I’m looking for when considering to use it outside, seeing it being collapse able.Things to look out for: possible rope snapping due to the metal cut (while is filed) might still catch since after pulled apart both ends can rotate any way.Not sturdy feel when picking up heavier items, and even possibly splitting apart mid pick up.Possible remedies: thicker handle, with its pined joint pretty snug to its place, a square snap in place jointer or similar thing to how some dusting polls are able to be snuggly hold themselves at any height with its clamp adjuster.

    Does the Job!
Bought this so I would not have to bend over to retrieve things on the floor and get my sweat pants on after my hip replacement. Easy to use and works well.

    Very disappointed…I feel cheated!
I’ve owned several brands of these reachers over the years and this is the first one I have ordered that is absolutely worthless! I ordered two 32 inch reachers and believe me I REALLY need them BAD right now. I’m disabled and due to a fracture I can’t bend over or reach for much. I ordered one for my front room…and another for my bedroom and BOTH do NOT work worth a darned. They are so “cheaply” made and the jaw that is suppose to grab things doesn’t close enough so that it can pick things up. (So frustrating!)I noticed on this grabber it has a large gap between the handle and trigger which makes it harder to pull the trigger—and I have large hands. Not sure what someone with small hands and short fingers would do? Also the string that is used to make the jaw open and close is cheap string that “won’t” tighten up enough when the trigger is pulled in order to pick anything! At the very end of the jaw when the trigger is in the pulled position the top and bottom of the jaw do NOT touch therefore it can’t pick up even a piece of paper on the floor unless you grasp it and wad it up–all my other reachers PRIOR to these never had this problem. Today I tried to pick-up a small empty box that my husbands eye drops came in—very small, tiny light weight box–I played heck picking it up…this reacher would NOT grab it for the life of me. I wanted to throw these reacher across the room. I’m going to call their customer service number on the box to tell them what I think about their product. Also I’ve noticed on both of the reachers I bought that each one has this “hard” plastic underneath it that hides the string. That hard plastic is falling out of the grabber on each end of it and I have to push it back in all the time. The handle on these are the thinnest and most cheaply made I’ve ever felt in my hand. They are SO THIN it’s hard to hold on to it. (I’m so serious.) Out of the two reachers I bought I noticed the jaw will NOT open all the way on one of them. One does..and one doesn’t! I have to manually open the jaw all the way if I am trying to pick something up. I paid $14.99 for each one and I feel totally ripped off since I cannot use either of them for the purpose they were purchased for. Then include the S & H charge of $12.99 which means I’m not a happy camper. I wouldn’t want to pay more then $2.00 for these..that’s how cheaply made they are in my opinion. I’ve been given reachers from the hospitals and they all worked fantastic so I can’t get over these being so poorly made. If I wasn’t battling cancer I would box them up and mail them back but I’m not up to it. Talk about throwing money away. I am using my “older” wore out reachers for now and they work better then these new ones. I seriously can’t even use these reachers for simple things like reachering across my table where I sit to grab a piece of Kleenex for myself…all my other grabbers would do it with NO problem…not these because they will NOT close enough to grab anything. ARGH!!!! The cardboard the reachers were attached too when I got them said, “the serrated jaw offers a secure grasp with minimal effort”. HA…THAT IS A JOKE. These reachers are so important to someone like myself–I was so glad to see them when they arrived at my door only to be highly disappointed after trying them both out. 🙁 These are just completely useless. So now I will search for a QUALITY reacher that actually works. I can’t believe how much I paid for these and can’t use them at all. I don’t write many reviews but I HAD to this time because this is just JUNK…it wouldn’t of been so bad if I’d paid $2.00 each for them. But I paid OVER $40.00 counting the S & H for something I can’t use at all due to the shotty workmanship. One last thing. When you READ the reviews on this reacher make SURE you look at the DATES on which the review was written. I’ve noticed many of the people that that LIKED this product were from 2007, 2008 and so on. The recently dated reviews were more like mine saying they were disappointed. I have a feeling this USE to be a good product…but not anymore…they won’t get anymore repeat business from me.

Much better and more reliable grip than plastic and/or folding units. Fine control of grip firmness let’s you pick up almost anything. It’s slightly heavier than other units due to the sturdiness and quality. That might make it harder to use if you don’t have a strong grip, particularly if you hold it horizontally. There is a lighter 26″ version that is equally well made. I have both, and both are excellent devices. (Search for ‎B0001X23HY )

Sturdy build quality, and superb grip control. Will reliably pick up heavy or thin items, and could probably safely pick up a raw egg. The magnetic pick up at the end is a nice touchNot as long as some other units (i.e. folding) but vastly superior product.
