    Great collection for home library
I personally love arts and music. This encyclopedia is definitely a must have at home if you have children who love art. Since my 7 years old son is a music lover who plays the piano, this book helps him get to know a lot more about the historical background and knowledge about different music periods and composers. For me, I learnt a lot about the different art period and history through reading this art encyclopedia. You wouldn’t feel bored as it has a lot of colorful pictures and illustrations to explain the texts.

The Perfect Art Encyclopedia for Homeschoolers
As first time homeschoolers (grades 6 & 3), it was important that I instill a love of art. We are an ART LOVING family. My husband is an artist. I am a creative. My daughter loves all art media, and my son loves to create building and farming landscapes. We are homeschooling this year due to Covid-19, and I wanted to ensure that our homeschool reference library had useful, inspiring, and informative books. This book is one of our favorites. We have a formal art lesson each week for the kids, but I try to incorporate a bit of art appreciation (along with music and poetry appreciation) a few times a week in our morning basket; this book serves that purpose VERY well. History is so much richer when art is involved, so I utilize this book as a companion to our study of world history (currently enthralled in with ancient times). It is a great art companion to History Quest: Early Times from Pandia Press.

Exquisite book for a young creative
A totally engaging book for a 10-year old artist to broaden the horizons of the world of visual arts. She couldn’t put it down for hours, and asked to keep it at grandma’s house so it wouldn’t get messed up by the little ones at home. A very high-quality book, sturdy paper, excellent printing, text is well written. And DK always means quality.

    Long live the Visual Encyclopedias!
Okay, I’m obsessing. These Visual Encyclopedias are so masterfully done, how could kids not get sucked in? We have four of them now and I can’t stop buying them. (The Human Body one—extraordinary.) These are such incredible tools for helping facilitate the love of learning that I’m trying to develop in them. I’m actually excited for this winter’s next quarantine because I’m gonna give them a new visual encyclopedia each month and we’re just gonna dive into that topic. To the authors, if you ever read this—standing ovation. The Beenfield team loves your freakin’ guts. The only problem now is you’ve sparked my kid’s interest in TOO many different facets! 😉 They don’t know what direction to go with all of this great info! If you could do us a favor and have your next one be Careers: A Visual Encyclopedia, it would be MUCH appreciated. 😉

Maravilhoso! É uma pena que não tenham colocado sobre Van Gogh e tampouco sobre Claude Debussy. Mas é lindo de qualquer forma.

The book is beautiful and has a good summary of many types of art. Although it can definitely cover more types and more breadth within each art type. They did a good job for Painting, but others lack breadth such as Music, none of the modern music genres are covered. Ceramics can also be included and elaborated next to Sculpture, as it is an amazing art form. There’s more to like Dance, Photography and even blacksmithing and wood-carving too.

For a person who is not an artist per se, this is a very interesting book with concise snippets about everything. I would say the only negative thing would be regarding the layout, some of the pictures cross the centre of the book, so you cannot appreciate the picture as a whole, instead of having the pictures on a single page. An ideal gift !!
