    Vital Information
For anyone (like me) who needs to understand the recipient’s view of kindness, this is a valuable book. It’s easy to read and speaks directly to the daily dynamics of giving and receiving. Many anecdotes stick with me, such as the elderly bedridden lady who gave visitors small tasks to help them feel useful. I highlighted many places and the Kindle Fire makes it so easy to read special parts over and over.

    Packed with vital wisdom
This is a really serious, profound, densely packed, finely written treatment. Every chapter has a wealth of wisdom useful to anyone who is or will be a caregiver, or who is or will be old or disabled — in other words, all of us.

    Excellent and inspiring work.
This work would be helpful even for those who are not dealing with the approaching disability and death of a beloved parent. It reminds me that we should allow the person who is suffering to do all that he can do. Playfulness is important for all of us.

    No One An Island
Everyone who plans on living a long life, or who acknowledges the possibility of a disabling illness/injury, should think about the issues brought up in this book. Everyone who is a caregiver or who might become a caregiver should do likewise. This is a tough topic with no easy answers, even in situations with loving and fairly functional relationships. Ms Lustbader speaks eloquently, I believe, about the time of life when we may have to count on the kindest of others.

It was well written and easy to read; can’t say I learned a lot from it but didn’t feel was wasted time either.

    Wonderful insight
Wonderful insight. I will review it again and again as I participate as a hospice volunteer to remind me of the view from the other side.

    A keeper and a gift.
This is a book you give someone after you have read it yourself. You do this because that person is having to step up and take care of someone. Ms. Lustbader’s book tells something vital about part of that journey.
