Excellent Summary of Key Areas
I found this excellent little book very helpful in summarizing the key areas that one needs to be knowledgeable about in order to survive and unexpected outdoor crisis. I would recommend this to anyone who is considering spending time in the “outdoors”. Being prepared for the unexpected increases ones chance of survival. An excellent book. Highly recommend.

Exactly What the Title Implies
This book is exactly what the title says: a condensed guide to short-term survival. By short-term we are talking 3 days or less. It has a lot of good information about how to prepare for a trip, what to do when you get lost, and how to survive a few days alone in the woods. It is lacking in first-aid though. A good majority of survival scenarios happen because of unexpected injuries the resulting decreased mobility caused by said injuries. In the end, this is a handy take-along reference for experienced outdoor adventurists, but not an all-encompassing guide for the inexperienced.

good but basic book
good but basic book.

Good basic book. . Readers digest version.
Another very basic pamphlet level guide. Make no mistake, it has good info and would be a worthy addition to a bugout bag or survival kit, it is not a definitive manual. If you want more info, Fears has an excellent book, “The complete book of outdoor survival.”

Good book, limited situations
My first book of this type.Pros-sound advice: helped me learn more about this whole genre, taught a few basic ideas and important stuff I didn’t know about, good overviewCons-this can’t possibly cover every situation as it is only one volume and a small one at that, because of this, the only scenario is getting lost or stranded on a hike-some of the advice is a bit optimistic: It recommends having only regular large kitchen matches in a waterproof match safe as a firestarter. I think some other form of firestarting should be carried, preferrably some form of lighterConclusionIf you want something that can get you out of every situation, you are in the wrong place. If you are going on a camping trip or similar soon, go for it.
