I’ve tried a LOT of fish oils, liquid and gelcaps, and these are actually quite good, though lesser-known. Here are the stats as I see them:Size: These are quite large at 1,250mg size, which is 50mg more than Norwegian Gold Critical Omega, and 250mg more than Nordic Naturals, just for comparison. I took one star off for size as that might put some people off. You might just have to pop these and drink the oil.Potency: 1,000mg of EPA/DHA, PLUS 60mg more of other omega-3, which is great. Most brands use ALL of the omega-3s when they add up the potency, so it can be misleading. These are accurate. You only need one to get a full gram of omega-3 a day.Form: Molecularly distilled for purity and potency, and ethyl ester form. Take before meal with a bit of fat in it for best absorption.Third-Party Certs: IFOS and MSC-certified. Don’t usually find either one of those, and usually not both together. Impressive.Color: Almost clear, no enteric coating.Taste and smell of gelcaps: Made of fish gelatin, NOT beef, so no “beefy” scent. This is a plus for me and a lot of other people. They say they are orange flavored (natural), but as has been said, I really don’t detect any orange scent or taste. They are just very mild.Freshness: I always break one of the caps from a new bottle open to check the freshness, and these are lovely. They barely smell like anything. The Norwegian Gold caps were really stinky, for instance, as many other fish oils can be even when fresh. Perhaps because these are made in the U.S. from Alaskan pollock and hake, not herring, mackerel, or sardines (caught in Peru and Norway), which are decidedly smellier.Burp-back: None so far, but I still take it before a meal with fat to enhance absorption.Price: Some have said they are expensive, but considering that you are getting a full gram of omega-3 per gelcap, they are really not anymore expensive than other premium ultra-concentrates. Using retail prices, and only looking at omega-3 content, to get about the same omega-3 per serving, you have to pay $30 for a month’s supply of Norwegian Gold Super Critical Omega, or $28 for a month’s supply of Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega (and you have to take two gelcaps). Barlean’s is $20 per month.Do they work for joint and mental agility improvement? You’ll have to test that for yourself!

Omega’s make a big difference in my mood and energy levels so I take them daily. I always buy Barlean’s Omega’s. I like the fact that they list the amount of EPA/DHA in each pill as opposed to other products that just list the amount of fish oil. Even though Barlean’s may be more expensive,if you compare the amount of actual EPA/DHA (which is what you’re looking for) it’s a lot more cost competitive as fish oil is usually 60% or less EPA/DHA. It’s important to me that the fish are sustainably fished and the quality and taste have always been great which is why I buy Barleans.
