    Great cookbook
This cookbook is great for anyone who likes to cook outside on a grill, smoker, open fire pit, or ground pit. Don’t let it fool you; it’s not just for wild game. It’s easy to substitute any meat for what’s being highlighted. Example: if they’re talking about smoking an elk roast over an open fire pit, you can easily substitute a beef roast of the same size. There are also a lot of sauce, marinade, side dishes and preparation recipes to make your cooking adventure more exciting. One of the side dishes that my family really liked was the smoked deviled eggs…delicious! I highly recommend this cookbook.

As witty and informative as the meateater show
This might be the perfect cook book. It not only allows for but encourages you to modify the recipes depending on your situation. It covers anything from meals for the back yard to meals for backpacking trips. I have yet to make anything with it yet but it all looks so good.

Excellent gift for a manly man
This is an excellent cookbook for those manly men in our lives, who have everything they could possibly need, and we’re not quite sure what gift to give them. My husband loves this cookbook and immediately started looking at all of the different recipes. I made the mistake of telling him anything he cooked in this book I would try, so looks like we are having moose nose for dinner sometime soon!

Great Intro For Wild Game Cooking
As an avid hunter and angler, I am happy to say that this book is great for anyone, whether they’ve been cooking wild game for decades or are just starting their journey into this way of life. Rinella and Ruane give great advice on how to cook outdoors and give the reader some amazing recipes beyond simply grilling a venison backstrap or frying a catfish. No matter your level experience, I think you’ll find this to be a great help. I know I have!

    Worth buying
Steve Rinella does a really good job of explaining anything that is required and necessary. Very educational – especially for a person like me with relatively low skills

I have been watching Steve Rinella for years, I love his no nonsense methods and matter fact views on hunting/cooking and the wilderness. This is so much more than a cook book, it’s a guide to a sustainable self providing way of life. Even though I reside in Australia, the recipes can easily be adapted for Australian game species.

I find myself wanting to go camping or to the deer camp. It might be that I’m sitting next to a campfire scented candle my wife made. The book looks good, easy to follow, and the recipes sound amazing. This truly has something for everyone. New to greatly experienced cooks will find something they love.
