    must read,
I’m a runner, thinking this would primarily be about running. It had running in it but more about her story. How life is tough, really tough for many and I can relate to much she went through in different scenarios. I can feel her emotions, even though I never lost a baby but I could feel her pain during losing the babies (no spoiler Elbert it was mentioned at the beginning). I love her writing style that kept me interested to keep reading. The short chapters always a plus for me, easy read, just great writing.

    Interesting, Intimate, and Inspirational …
This book eloquently balances running with tragedy. As a runner … Laurel has done everything from local 5ks, to club running, to Florida State cross-country to ultra-running (distances over 26.2 miles). Intermingled with these “highs” are the many lows of her life including tragedy, divorce, medical issues, poverty, family problems, and unsettled personal relationships. Her resilience is amazing and inspiring … but the book has other things. Along the way she found kindness in strangers, empathetic friends, and forgiving coworkers that helped her get to where she is today. Her perception of running is also multi-dimensional featuring everything from competition and achievement, to passion, joy, escape, and therapy. We all need something positive to cope with the challenges in our lives; for Laurel, it was running.I would recommend this book for runners and non-runners. It is for anyone experiencing insurmountable obstacles, and who feel like they sometimes “cannot go on.” Laurel proves you can.

    An Amazing, Powerful Read!
This memoir really reels you in. There’s a lot of relatable themes as Laurel navigates you through her own hardships, struggles, and personal matters that honestly, most of us experience or go through in some way but never put it out there. Those are the things that really reel you in when thinking about your own life and you connect to it.The central theme of course is running, its fluent all the way throughout the book. That sense starts off in high school, into college, and all the way through Laurels life. For me, that was also something that I personally connected to with two of my first Cross Country coaches really building that foundation for me.If you’re on the fence of ordering this book, listen to Laurel on the Florida Trail Runners Podcast….. it’s so inspiring.

Real heartache and true strength collide to bring the reader inspiration
Once I started reading, I found myself longing to return to this story. Laurel writes in a way that helps you understand difficult subjects like disordered eating, alcoholism, same-sex relationships, tragedy and loss without the judgement or condemnation that so often follows. Reading her story has empowered myself as a woman, mother, wife, runner and person who has experienced pain and heartache. Her story helped me remember that hope is often wrapped up in the very things that cause pain. The timing of reading this book was impeccable, as I finished my first ultra marathon with the very author herself. Hugging at the finish line, shedding tears of joy with Laurel was indescribable.

Love, pain, loss, moving forward no matter what.
I personally know Laurel’s father. He is absolutely the most wonderful human that I know. I was thrilled to get his daughter’s memoir. I had soft tears while reading the introduction, full flowing tears on page three, stopped, pulled myself together (or so I thought) to keep reading. I am mesmerized, finding an hour here and there to keep reading, choosing to read instead of sleep… I will come back when I finish and let you know how many more times I was moved. I suspect I will finish this book and start it over immediately. I pray one day I get to meet my dear friends’s daughter. I would be honored Laurel. Well done Dad, well done daughter.

Persevering through life’s trials and challenges
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author captivated me with her story and I could feel the raw emotions throughout each chapter. It kept me completely engaged; I quite literally had a hard time putting it down. I admire the author’s vulnerability in sharing her story. Her perseverance through difficult times was amazing and inspiring.

How she coped with this journey
A window into the journey of someone’s life; I could totally relate to most of what Laurel went through; at times I found myself yelling “run run run”, at other times I was so proud that she was able to handle this unpredictable life.
