This Victor and Valor Liquid Beard Balm was ordered to use on a long thick âSanta styleâ beard. Itâs possible thoughts and opinions of the product would be different were it used on a short trimmed beard. I believe this is a decent product, however there are other products that work better for this type beard. This is a liquid instead of the typical waxy texture of most balms, though it has a thick consistency. This makes it much easier to spread through the beard. The thickness causes it to cling to the beard better, however it absorbs slowly. The slower absorption means it will get on your hands for a lengthier period of time if you touch your beard. Initially it seems to condition well. The beard is manageable and has a nice groomed appearance. Perhaps this is a result of the humid environment where we live, but that effect seemed short-lived. The beard âpoofedâ out in a fairly short amount of time, having a wilder appearance.Iâm still undecided on the scent, though Iâm warming up to it a little. I ordered âBackdraftâ, and itâs described as âcampfire and Cuban tobaccoâ. I expected a more rustic, natural type smell. This comes across as a Christmas candle combined with a high-end department store fragrance to me, it has spicy notes to the fragrance as well. The scent is fairly pronounced, so if youâre not fond of it, you have a smell enveloping your head that you canât escape. I donât hate it, itâs just not what I expected nor is it what I would have chosen had I had the opportunity to smell it first.I believe this might be a good product for a shorter beard, it just wasnât the best choice for this style. Itâs convenient and easy to use, it moisturizes well. Victor and Valor also provide a little fun with their products. Thereâs a little card inside with their promise of quality in poem form.
