A decent Android tablet for an adult bundled with a kid friendly case
Iâm please that the manufacturer decided to not load it up with a lot of bloatware. All the preinstalled apps are Googleâs standard, stock Android appsâwith one exception. It has the Kahn Academy app preinstalled (as far as I can tell, that is the only âkid-centricâ thing about the tablet itself. Of course the included caseâwhich, being thick and squishy, ought to do a good job absorbing careless bumpsâis unlikely to be something an adult would want for themselves. But pop the tablet out of the case and no one will ever know it was sold as a âTablet for Kids.âUnlike a lot of the cheaper tablets one finds on Amazon, this one features the (almost) latest version of Android, version 14. [I phrased it that way, because version 15 was released just sixteen days ago (at the time of the review November 1st, 20204). Perhaps there will be an update soon?]The rear and sides, at least on the one I received, are an attractive, textured (so itâs not slippery) titanium gray plastic; just looking at it, Iâd think it was metal. It seems solidly built. Specification wise, it runs rings around the tablets I bought back in Androidâs early days (for several times the asking price of this one).Iâve deducted 1 star from my rating because on the tablet I received has a cosmetic manufacturing defect. There are three small spots where an air bubble got trapped when the screen layers were bonded. If you look at the photo, youâll see the effect looks like a tiny droplet of clear liquid dried on the screen. (Yes, I peeled off the protective film. Yes, I tried wiping it offâbut that doesnât work, because itâs not on the surface.)If you are looking for a basic AOSP tablet, this one might be one to considerâIâd advice you to comparison shop before purchase though.Disclosure: I received this product for âfreeââin quotes because the IRS requires I pay federal income tax on the retail value. FAST, VERSATILE, NOT EASY TO USE
I was surprised at the speed and versatility of this tablet. However, setup is relatively long and quiet complicated. I set up a new Google account for the pad because this will be a gift in the future. The case is made for heavy use and abuse. As to using the tablet, finding the settings was not evident and I used voice command to ask for settings. This application is quite elaborate and use of this application and the tablet a little difficult, but you may become accustomed to how it works. Basically, if you touch anywhere you can activate a command on that line. Activating a command is not limited to touching the small area of the command, but touching anywhere on the tablet can activate a command. This could possibly be changed in the settings, but would take time and expertise to find if available. It includes a user manual which explains basic operating procedures, a power cord and a one year warranty. Suggested for 3 years and up, I have seen 3 year old take to phones and pads much easier than this 67 year old adult. With use you or your child will adapt to the nuances of how this tablet operates. Not a bad basic tablet for an adult it would be great for an older or younger person. This tablet is fast and very functional. It is much more than I expected. It is a ‘reall’ tablet and not a nonfunctional toy. It is very comparable to my Tablet that is about 10 years old if not faster and more versatile. The only criticism is that it is a little clumsy to use, but any electronic device has a learning curve. This tablet has a little steeper curve- in my opinion. Overall, this is a nice tablet that outperforms expectations.

Works great for home schooling young kids!
I got this tablet for my daughter to use exclusively for educational apps and internet usage for homeschool learning purposes. She has a 6 year old and a 4 year old. She doesn’t plan to download any regular kids games/video apps on it and wanted a tablet she would strictly use for home schooling. So far, I have downloaded a few educational apps for her to use. Every step of the process to download the apps was easy and fast. The apps work well on the tablet and we havenât had any issues with freezing or the need to restart the tablet. The tablet uses Google Play store for the apps so anything available on there can be downloaded to this tablet. She has had one other tablet before but definitely likes this new one better. It has a very simple android system that she understands better than the other tablet brand.The instruction booklet that came with the tablet was easy to follow making setup a breeze. It did not take long for me to get it setup and ready to use. The tablet uses google family link for parental controls. I did have to create a gmail account for my grandkids in order to link it to my daughter’s google account so she could run the parental controls on the table. The big case that came with it seems like it will cushion it really well from any falls. The camera on the tablet takes good pictures and you can do video ss well. This tablet seems like it is going to work very well as another tool for my daughter to use for homeschooling!
