Awesome Book!!!
I really enjoyed reading The Patriot(Hayden Family Book 1)!!!! All about Dakota Wright a young project manager at Wright Architectural & Construction, she is in her late twenties & Wes Hayden is thirty-seven years old and ex-soldier with a bomb/explosive concentration, and a cowboy. Wes is ready to take over the cattle ranch, but the stipulation says he needs to be married. His dad Beau Hayden has decided to sell off some land, and heâs in charge of getting this done with the realtor. The prospective buyer is from Colorado a father daughter team. Turns out Wes already knows Dakota, they met five years ago, when he first got out of the military. Read about Dakota & Wes and see if the heart has grown fonder in the time they have been apart. Lots of emotion and some toe curling does occur. I canât wait to read book two!!

Feel good romance.
This is a solid, feel good romance. Likable characters, a reasonably paced and interesting storyline, good descriptions of setting, and a little bit of suspense near the end all make for a pleasant read. Perhaps the best thing about it is that it was devoid of silly misunderstandings and unnecessary story padding just to make a page count.

Couldn’t put this down!
This book is an easy read, I really liked the flow of it. The author puts just enough description that you really get a sense of the characters without being long-winded or overly done. Like the title says, I couldn’t put this down. Read it in 3 days. Worth the read!

Second chance
-cowboy-second chanceIf you are seeking a small-town, cowboy-themed romance novel with a second chance theme, this book may be of interest to you. The story follows the characters Dakota and Wes as they navigate a challenging situation of feelings and past trauma. Dakota is portrayed as intelligent, quick-witted, and kind-hearted, while Wes is depicted as loyal, guarded, and somewhat lost. The plot is engaging and encourages readers to continue reading to discover how the characters resolve their predicament. This is the first book in a series of four.

Good
This was a good story. I liked the men of the ranch and can’t wait to read more. I liked both mcs but I feel like we missed out on some good scenes. The ending seemed rushed. I wanna know what happened with Jessie at the prom, I wanna know if the mmc ever reached out to his old military friends, the mfcs dad having a condo with the mmc would have been nice.

A MUST READ
I’m really loving the story. This is about two heartbroken souls that connected one night. They don’t feel that they deserve Love or a good marriage. Ironically, they decide for their own personal gain to get into an arranged marriage. This is a second chance romance. Dakota and Wes met 5 years earlier and made such a powerful connection that he ghosted her.Wes is a rancher, the heir apparent to the Ranch. He came back from the Marines a changed man. Trying to forget his tour and what happened, he throws himself into ranching fulltime. He doesn’t feel he will ever expose himself enough to marry for love. But he needs to be married in order to get the Ranch. 5 years later, Dakota is a developer who comes in to purchase a parcell of land Wes’ family is selling. The shock they both feel is palatable. But the connection is still there and very real. So Wes comes up with idea.Their connection is so moving and subtley heartwarming. She slowly draws him out of his hard shell. Underneath is a very emotional romantic man willing to open his heart finally.I also love this authors voice. The words draw you in with moving descriptive phrases such as: ” The sun has officially set, but it’s memory lingers. In the sky a steady fade.”Cant wait to read the next in series.A definite must read!

The Patriot
4âï¸ A memorable and meaningful one-night-stand 5 years ago is suddenly back in the forefront for Wes and Dakota. Now, they are in need of each otherâs help and a fake marriage seems to be the best answer for them, even when it doesnât feel fake.

I have some mixed feelings about the story of Wes and Dakota. The story is told in dual POV and we have a few chapters told in alternating timelines as the main characters meet initially 5 years previously. Wes has served 12 years in the Army in the Middle East and suffers from PTSD. He keeps to himself and he is a brooding hero. Dakota deals with guilt over past decisions and she’s in a bad place in her life. But she is a strong, independent and smart heroine. When she and Wes reconnect by accident, he fakes not knowing her. They later have to work together and end up in a fake dating / possible marriage of convenience situation. One one side, I liked that the story deals with PTSD more than other military romances I’ve read. I also liked the small town cowboy side of the story. I kept imagining Wes talking with an accent. ðHowever, I didn’t like their meet cute 5 years prior because they had this instant love connection that also contaminated the present and I hate this trope outside paranormal romance. Also, the characters could have been more fleshed out and the pacing a bit faster. A lot of reactions and emotions were told instead of showed and were inconsistent with the characters (most of all Dakota).I liked that the drama at 85% was not related to miscommunication but there was an element of suspense added to the story at it was done well. All in all an ok read but I’m not sure I’ll go on with the series.Safety: triggers for PTSD, no explicit scenes, this is a clean romance.

Romance Book Review –
3.5 stars. This book dragged a bit for me. The story was enjoyable but had some unnecessary details. The action also happened very fast at the end. I would have liked it to be spread out a bit more.âï¸second chanceâï¸small townâï¸forced proximity
