Sun Protection and Comfort in One Stylish Cap!
I recently purchased the Outdoor Research Swift Cap and I am beyond impressed! This cap has been my constant companion on all my outdoor adventures.
The lightweight, breathable material makes it perfect for hot, sunny days. I’ve worn it on long hikes, trail runs, and even a few boating excursions, and it has held up beautifully. The cap’s built-in UPF 50+ sun protection is a fantastic feature that gives me peace of mind during prolonged sun exposure.
What I love most about the Swift Cap is its comfort and fit. The adjustable back strap allows for a customized fit, ensuring the cap stays in place no matter how vigorous the activity. Despite its sturdy design, it feels incredibly light on the head, almost as if it isn’t there at all.
As an added bonus, the cap is also quite stylish. I’ve received several compliments on its sleek design and vibrant color. It’s a cap that looks as good in the city as it does on the trail.
In conclusion, the Outdoor Research Swift Cap has exceeded all my expectations. It’s durable, comfortable, protective, and stylish. I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a definite five-star product!

Super breathable hat you forget your wearing
Great hat for exercising or running. The color was true to the pictures. It is a super thin, breathable and lightweight hat. Keeps sun out of your eyes and honestly kinda forget you are wearing it. I was worried about it looking too feminine which it wasn’t. Only thing I wasn’t a huge fan was the fabric band on the back. I would have preferred snaps or a fitted option. Seems to be well made and a good value. Keeps sweat out of eyes and sun too.

A well put-together cap for the outdoors
I forgot my hat on a recent climbing trip to Moab. The sun was ferocious, and fortunately a friend lent me his OR Sun Runner cap. As a testament to how much I liked the hat, I ordered an OR hat immediately after I returned. I didn’t want the side panels of the Sun Runner cap (I always bring a bandana, and I unfold it and wear it under my hat if I really need to cover my ears and neck), so I ordered the Swift Sun Hat in fatigue.
The hat is typical Outdoor Research quality, which is to say excellent. As with the hat I wore in Moab, I think it will be excellent as a sun hat. It is very light and has a very comfortable fit. The adjustment tab has a quick release buckle, which seems useless to me but is very low profile, so that’s fine. I really like the ‘fatigue’ color, which is a nice olive, light enough to not absorb too much sunlight and without the slightly dumpy army-navy store color common to olive drab. It’s casual enough looking to not look like I’m trying to golf at Mara-Lago and neat enough looking that I wore it in the rain to an engineering meeting without looking unprofessional.
There is one kind of odd aspect to the hat: the mesh side panels are actually the sides of a complete mesh cap. The top of the mesh cap is hidden because the nylon top panel (the olive part, in my case) is actually a completely separate ‘awning’ secured at the front and the back of the brim. I think the purpose is to provide a bit more insulation and ventilation between the head and the sun. It makes the hat a tad heavier (it’s still really light) and I suppose could theoretically catch on brush if you’re thrutching through dense vegetation, but honestly I don’t think the difference would be really noticeable. Either the Swift or Sun Runner seem to be good choices.
Final analysis, I don’t see much to criticize. It seems very practical for hot weather and sun, and probably fine in cool weather as well. It packs well and looks cool. It’ll probably end up as my go-to hat for hiking, running, and activities in sunny and/or arid areas. Highly recommended.

    Lightweight, Comfortable, and Well-Fitting
I have a score of ballcaps. They either sit on my head like a billboard, puff out at the band on the sides, or push my ears out like Dopey’s. This is the best-fitting hat I’ve ever owned. I like that it is breathable on the sides, adding comfort. I only wish they weren’t so expensive. I’d own a dozen otherwise.

    Great cap
Great lightweight ball cap with plenty of ventilation. The interior webbing keeps my sweaty head away from the exterior of the cap allowing air to pass through and not soaking the hat in sweat. I use this cap for landscaping and no seams or little button on top allows my headphone ear protection to sit on top of my cap and not rub my head. Great sun protection. My go to cap for outdoor summer work

Looks good, comfortable, well made, cool in hot weather, dries super fast
Good looking, comfortable on my head, and well made. This had seems durable, and OR generally makes things that last. This does a great job of ventilating and keeping my head cool. It looks like other designs I have used. On those others, the mesh panels are simply insets of the mesh sewn into the openings in the fabric. But on the Swift hat, the fabric in the crown is free-floating above the darker mesh–only sewn at the front and back. And there is a full coverage mesh layer against the top of your head, including the area under the supplex fabric. This does seem to improve moisture management and evaporation. I like the taping round the edge of the brim. Normally, without such taping, that edge is prone to wear and soiling. My only negative is the hold of the velcro-like closure at the back is not as strong as I’d like. The hook and loop material is not conventional velcro. It seems the hook part is less prone to pick up dirt, lint and debris, than regular velro. But this is done at the cost of not achieving a really firm mating. It is OK, and had never become undone, do maybe it will work out after all.

    Great Running Cap
I have used this cap throughout running for a half year. It is very easy to clean any smell by letting it sit in some hot water and dish soap. My cap is still even white! It is so lightweight that I often forget I’m even wearing a hat, which is great. It balances absorbing enough sweat so it doesn’t pour onto your face, will never becoming wet and heavy very well. Overall, if you sweat a lot or an avid runner, this cap is a great product to have.

  11. Happy customer

I purchased this hat to keep me cool when hiking. I’ve purchased a few hats for this purpose but this is the only one that has worked. It super light, breathable, reflects the sun & fits perfectly as it’s easily adjustable. Because the peak is structured, it doesn’t flop around in the wind like other hats I’ve bought. Being hypercritical, I wish the mesh sides were a lighter colour to better reflect the sun. Instructions say you can machine wash it but not tried this yet. Overall very happy with the purchase.
