A great balance of fun and facts
As a paleontologist, I received a copy of Dinosaurs In Space from the author for review. I read it with my 7 year old and we both loved it. The format pairs factual information about dinosaurs and their extinction with a story-telling narrative. I was a bit skeptical at first, worried that the two writing styles would be confusing and distracting, but my son and I were both thoroughly enjoying the book in no time. My son giggled and laughed while we were reading, then went through the book two more times on his own after we were done. Rather than being confusing, the writing balanced up-to-date paleontology information (thank you for having a kids books clearly stating that birds are dinosaurs!) with an engaging narrative that kept our interest. The illustrations just enhance the story. I’m not convinced there are discernible dinosaur fossils on the moon, but the idea of dino-dust being shot into space during the impact event (great big boom) is something I never considered and a very interesting thought! Overall, a captivating and enjoyable read.

Great fiction and non-fiction content
I read this with my dinosaur-and-space-obssessed 4 year old, and he loves it! He’s asked to read it every night for the past week now. I’ve replaced a few words here and there to make it more understandable for his age, but other than that he follows along well and is entertained with Austro (the Austorapter) and his shenanigans. This is one of those books that breaks the fourth wall, and that is a new concept for him, so I’ve had to explain it and use drastically different voices for the narrator and the dinosaurs to help him grasp the concept, but it’s a fun read! The pictures are good quality and fun, the text flows nicely and is entertaining to read. However, I hoped that it would’ve leaned more into the fiction rather than the non-fiction. This might be mismarketed as a fiction book because the main storyline is telling us about the theory of fossils on the moon as a repercussion of the asteroid hitting earth 66 million years ago.

Fun
My four year old loved this book. He thought it was so funny. This book was both funny and educational which I really enjoy. It helped keep my kiddo engaged! The illustrations are unique and engaging. This book was a fun spin on the typical dinosaur story! Definitely a book I recommend for anyone who had a dinosaur loving kiddo in their life!

Educational but fun – perfect for kids!
Oh man, this is such a great book! I already know my two boys (ages 4-7) would become obsessed with it and ask me to read it to them approximately a million times. This book is very educational on dinosaurs and how they became extinct and âended up in spaceâ but itâs presented in such a fun way.It starts off very factual but quickly gets silly. With an unseen narrator and dinosaurs jumping in on the story, itâs a fun way for kids to interact. The illustrations are so cute and I love the color palette that was used. Will definitely keep my eye out when this is released in September and will ask my local library to purchase their own copy!

Dinos in Space. . . for real?!
I went ahead and read this to my 5 and 8 year old boys and they loved the idea of dinosaur fossils in space! I liked that a lot of the information was presented in a fun and silly way that kept them giggling and engaged. Now my 5yo wants to be an “earth paleontologist” AND a “MOON paleontologist” haha. However, the info dumping at the end wasn’t as fun to read as the rest which made the target age for the book harder to discern and it would’ve been nicer to find a lot of that information in the humor narrative as well.

Dinosaurs and Space – what could go wrong?
What happens when a book narration gets hijacked by a bunch of overenthusiastic dinosaurs? Our poor narrator is simply trying to explain the extinction of the dinosaurs, when his tale suddenly takes a different route. This book is charmingly illustrated with expressive dinosaurs, and contains a good helping of new terms for young readers. The glossary in the back of the book is not only useful for discovering new words, but contains nods to pop culture to ensure that whatever adult is narrating this book also stays entertained!Thank you Todd Sturgell and SourceBooks for allowing me to review this book. It will be a fabulous addition to our Kickoff to Summer Reading.

Dinosaurs rock!
I enjoyed learning with this book for things I didn’t know and for a dinosaur lover who knows about the different time periods with different dinosaurs this is a good book. It is pretty chaotic and hard to read as a storybook so I would recommend it for people who have knowledge of dinosaurs or to not focus on the timelines and kind of skim that for younger readers if reading as a storybook. It would be GREAT for an introduction to the time periods of dinosaurs!

Educational and silly!
A fun and interesting read that’s perfect for any dino loving kid (and adult). Dinosaurs In Space has great illustrations of both Dinosaurs and visual time lines pf their existence. There are multiple points of view which makes for an extra bit of fun if you enjoy reading in different voices. This is the first that I’ve heard of Space Dinosaurs, and will be a fun fact to share with others, probably. Highly reccomend. Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Kids for the eARC!
