A lot of wisdom in a few daily pages
This is a small (thin) book. But it has daily wisdom of one’s necessary journey away from sugar as a lifestyle. Becky is not a “doctor” doctor, nor does she pretend to be. But she is an excellent writer, and careful observer of the human condition and the dynamics of eating carbs with its consequences. And she know lots of ‘kitchen stuff.” She has an encouraging heart that comes through her writing–not a hugging expansive form, but the kind that one would welcome as a friend.
If one follows along day by day, with her encouragement and some restraint, one will be sugar free at the end of 30 days, and that is no small achievement, though it costs nearly 20 bucks for this little book.
Ok, 20 bucks is just 20 bucks–and getting sugar free is worth many many multiples of that. So best to think of it as a very cheap co-pay for a doctor’s visit (assuming such doc would have the background, training, inclination, to provide such help…which for doc’s in factory healthcare systems is quite unlikely).

New to Skipping Sugar for 30 Days? This is YOUR Workbook!
If you’ve never tried to eliminate sugar from your diet, or tried and found it difficult, this book/workbook could be your best friend for 30 days and beyond.
This book is like having the nicest friend who knows about nutrition coming over to your house every morning for a bit of information, chit-chat, and guidance for the day. This book acknowledges that quitting sugar is hard and doesn’t beat you up if you slip one day. It provides guidance if you do in such a way as to encourage you to reflect calmly on what happened and how to help yourself moving forward.
When it comes to the food aspect, with the regards to food lists, you may find yourself in a low(lower) carb diet (not keto). Nothing extreme. It makes sense because part of getting over sugar means giving up even naturally higher natural sugars to retrain your taste buds. From my personal experience, I can no longer drink sodas because they are just too sweet and no longer taste good.
You don’t have to write in the book, you could keep a separate journal, but, I think for the price, I would write in the book in the spaces provided. Keep it simple, keep it all in one spot.

Good book for starting to eliminate or lower sugar
Dr Becky helped me lose almost 40 lbs 3 years ago with her flexible Intermittent fasting book which is wonderful. It’s not over the top and gives you options for fasting and different carb restrictions and I’d look that up too. I was doing fine and still am but I let sugar in products back into my life the last few months and feel less energetic and clear. This book with all the charts and calendars to help motivate you, is helping me daily to read labels again and get back on track with my sugar intake. For beginners it’s motivating and has compassion for mistakes. After a month, I know many will be feeling much better overall.

    Helpful!
This book is very helpful and easy to follow. It’s not a diet but a life changing plan of eating that is doable. I plan on doing for another 30 days to make it a lifestyle for me. Nothing else has worked for me to lose weight like this plan has helped in feeling better all around.

Don’t buy workbook this book all you need
This book has everything you including work pages. The workbook which sometimes is listed as a recommended “purchase with” is neither a workbook nor helpful.

I first came across Dr. Becky Gillaspy through Youtube. I found her video so clarifying that it was enough for me to commit to the first 30 days without sugar. On my second round of 30 days, I relapsed a lot and eventually gave up half-way through. After some time not feeling good about eating sugar, I decided to invest in her book and follow her advice. It was THE investment I needed! Her book is a guide on a day-by-day survival without sugar, but it also contains some very nice stories and testimonials that are super motivating. I felt secure “listening” to her voice and I knew she was writing from her own experience, too. This is a book that I would like to have for life as I renew my commitment to stay healthy as I age. Yesterday I renewed my third cycle of commitment without eating sugar. As I re-read the first chapers of the book, I couldn’t help but to be very thankful to you, Dr. Gillaspy!

This book was easy to follow and our family did the challenge. At the end of the month however we did return to eating (some) sugar. I find the war on sugar, in the face of the ‘keto – low carb’ era a little disheartening. Life with too much sugar looks like a sunny day with very dark clouds brewing in the distance. Life without sugar (including fructose sugar from fruits) looks like a cloudy, depressing day with no sunshine. Life on keto, with no sugar, no fruit (other than one or two berries) no bread, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes, no starchy vegetables, very low carbohydrates, feels like the arctic circle in winter and an eternal night. I lost a lot of weight on keto – getting down to a perfect size in just 5 months. I maintained it for 1.5 years, but, frankly, the Sun had gone out of my life. I now watch what I eat but I think any food type (in moderation of course) is the way to go. Life is just too short to deprive yourself of some of the genuine joys of life. I’ve put some of the weight back on but you know what ? I smile and am happy every day and I really appreciate the food I eat.
