    Wonderful!
My son asked for a circuit kit. We purchased one before and though nice, it was pricey for the things it provided. I decided to make my own kit using this book. I cannot say enough good things about this. I have not given it to my 12-year-old yet but he will love it. I read almost the whole book to purchase supplies for the experiments as part of his gift. The book makes the shopping list easy. Although other suppliers are listed as well, I went ahead and ordered everything through Jameco. I learned so much just by reading the chapters to purchase the supplies. Very well done. The book provides a stair-step approach to learning various aspects of electricity which I found perfect for a beginner. It was not overwhelming but I think it will be challenging enough to hold I interest. I love that the author said he wrote this book because he would have liked to have something like it as a child. It not only provides instructions but explains the rationale which I believe will be applicable to future endeavors.

A GREAT book for kids interested in electronics
An excellent book for kids beginning electronics. The book is laid out in a fashion that builds confidence and knowledge for later chapters. It is written in a fun and engaging way – my ten year old loves it and the projects thus far. The breadboard projects are his preference as parts can then be re-purposed for other projects. This books provides a variety of projects not found in other sources. Highly recommend!

Possibly too textbookish to interest kids who are not already motivated
This book could have been infinitely better with a small packet of parts. This is a great catalog of projects which motivated kids can refer to. The pictures are good and the instructions are great. Each project is explained in a step by step manner with a description of what is happening. However, one thing that I felt was unfortunate was that the book expects the reader to go out and acquire all the parts on his own. It seems like attaching a small box of basic parts (an LED, zinc/copper pins, pre-stripped wires, breadboard, etc) would have gone far to really bootstrap a kid receiving this.As it is, the book is great in what it does, which is provide project ideas and detailed information to support motivated kids. However if it increased its scope just a little bit it could be an enormously useful and fun thing.

    Well written and captivating
My 8-year-old son who is a self professed future engineer and techie cannot put this book down! Shortly after receiving this book after Christmas, he asked me to order basic electronics parts to put together some of the circuits described in this book, and has been working night and day putting together circuits, including a door alarm to ward off intruders into his bedroom. This book seamlessly combines some basic science principles with practical application in a way that all inquisitive minds, young and old, will be able to appreciate. A great learning tool that does not involve the screen and will equip our youth with the knowledge, tools, and skills that they will need in the digital future!

    Step by Step Instructions
My grandson and I like to tinker with electronics. We have several books that start out with the basics and then jump to “magic happens and here’s the finished product” with all the intermediate steps left out. This book is a good step by step book with fun illustrations and helpful text. There are a lot of easy projects to keep your interest while you build knowledge. Worthwhile book!

    Kid friendly yet challenging
My twelve-year-old grandson loves this book. Read it from cover to cover the first few days he had it. He has completed many of the projects and is still going in this book. One thing I really like is that this book is not dummied down. It will challenge a kid and is definitely kid-friendly.

Author is big on experiments and here too he starts out OK but as time goes on he starts to assume all is easy to understand
The book title implies it is suitable for kids. Not really.Book starts out simple but as time goes on the author begins to skim over a lot of details to make things really simple for kids.Author is big on experiments and here too he starts out OK but as time goes on he starts to assume all is easy to understand. Also the publisher should start a new page whenever the author goes into practice mode. The book could become a easier book to understand if the author went back and filled in some details .Gerard Sagliocca
