Great mid-sized heated shelter
I bought this Mod Kitty Shelter for a community cat that has adopted me as its caregiver. The product is very well made and I’m sure it will be strong enough to last a long time and the heater is excellent. I like that the heater covers only half the area of the shelter, which gives the cat a choice of what it needs. It was a bit tricky to zip up but well worth the effort.I did make one modification to the set up by sewing a long shoe lace to the bottom of the front pad, and laced it through the bottom holes to secure the pad in place. Also, the shelter is water resistant but it should be placed in a carport or shed so that it is out of the rain and snow.

Bought for the feral outside. Easy to assemble and one kitty claimed it already. Seems as if it will be durable enough for the outside. Wish it came in different sizes though. Gave a 4 because dissappointed in the heating element only covers half of the container size and minimal heat from pad.

Kitty Loves MN Winters Now
My outdoor cat lives in luxury with this product. She loves being outside and hates being indoors but with our winters getting as cold as -25, we needed to do something for her. She was hesitant to use this new home. After tempting her with some treats and having her food bowl in these for a few days, she learned quickly to love it. I also really like that it only is warm when she is in the house. She spends her days roaming so I am happy to not waste energy while it is not being used. Great product and easy to fold up!

Being used by our feral semi-regularly
We TNR’d (trap-neuter-release) a feral cat last winter, and surprisingly he eventually came around for more food later in the winter, and again this fall. So we bought this heated shelter and put it on our front porch. After about 2 weeks, he tried it out, and he seems to like it. He spends about 5 hours/night (midnight-5am) in there on the few nights he chooses to hunker down here instead of whatever barn he is living in. We have a camera on it, and he goes in very, very cautiously, and when he leaves 5 hours later, he gives a nice long stretch on his way out. This little shelter keeps him warm all night long, and warms our hearts as well when we watch him on the videos. We hope he starts to use it even more often, as we live in the cold northeast.I placed a piece of thin cotton fabric over the pad so I can wash it when needed. We put it in a covered spot where its weatherproof abilities won’t be tested, so I can’t speak to that. The zipper was a little stiff, making it hard to assemble, but nothing we couldn’t handle – makes it seem sturdier. And yes, it smelled funny, so we set it outside for a few days to air out and it no longer smelled funny after just a few days. We did not use the plastic flap, and might not ever use it, for fear that this previously-trapped feral won’t go in it with the flap on. When we did the TNR last year, he rammed his body back and forth so hard trying to escape that his nose was quite bloody by the time we released him the next day. My soothing “it’s Ok” voice did not calm him down, lol. To be honest, I didn’t have high hopes he would use this shelter at all.

Sure, It seems weatherproof. Its low quality, and the heating pad seems not only uncomfortable for the kitty, but it only heats the back half of the pad. As for heating, its barely warm. Im tempted to just get my money back but im hoping this will suffice until i can afford better. This product is awful.

Better than expected
This is one tough cat house. Hard structure. Easy to put together, took one minute. This is on our covered deck and since the weather turned colder our indoor outdoor cat has been in it 90% of the time. Very soft pad and heated area in the back half which I like. Im glad I didnt buy a cheap one with questionable electric safety.

This seems like exactly what we needed. Simple., water-resistant and cozy. Good price on sale. I showed it to my cat and he got right in and has been there for almost an hour. This will give me piece of mind when he decided to stay outside at night. I thought the cord would be longer. It seems only about 3 ft long to me but works and I’ll eventually put it up on a table so the kitty feels extra secure. Only drawback is there is only one door but this cat is up on a covered deck so he is fairly protected. I could always open the back flap so he could get out that way. Sturdy with good quality zipper etc.Oh yes the colour seems lighter than online, it is more beige than brown but the cat isn’t complaining. ð

Ordered this heated hut friday and received it Saturday. Tested the heating pad and it worked so I assembled the hut. It took about 15 minutes from start to finish. The material is thick and sturdy and looks totally windproof. I put the hut out Saturday evening and by Sunday afternoon the stray I’ve been looking after for 4.5 years was inside and so cozy warm. I was genuinely surprised….I thought it would take longer for him to sniff it out and test it so I am really happy about that. I thought the price was reasonable and esthetically pleasing. I didnt put the plastic flap on the door because I found it stiff. When the really cold Canadian winter hits I think I am going to put it on a raised platform and cover it with a large plastic storage bin. Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase.
