Large was almost perfect for 2 people, maybe not 4
We purchased the 4 person tent for a beach vacation. We’ve gone through so many umbrellas over the years and they never stand up, so we thought we’d give this one a try. We appreciated that it was lightweight and compact, as it traveled with us in our checked luggage. The first use did take a bit of practice to get it up and going. It was highly annoying that all the poles were wrapped in lightweight plastic and we had a tough time safely removing it in a steady 20mph wind without it flying away. I definitely recommend removing all packaging before taking it into the wild.Secondly, the compact shovel was a bit too compact, and we assume that it will be the least durable component of the system. I plan to invest in a high quality stainless steel scoop for future use. Also, the filling of the bags with sand is by far the most time consuming portion of setting up the tent. This isn’t so bad, but it leaves you stuck in the hot sun until all the bags are filled with sand. I suggest investing in a second more durable scoop or shovel so that two people can fill bags at one time. Also the plastic shovel was fine on loose sand, but when we encountered harder more compact sand I would have appreciated a stronger shovel.It’s very important to follow the relatively simple and straight forward instructions: fill the bags and stretch it out. On our 5th and final day at the beach we watched a crew of 6 people struggle to get a similar tent set up. We told them to stretch it out and fill the bags, but they didn’t want to listen to us experienced oldsters, so their struggle continued much longer than necessary.As for the shade, the fast moving late summer sun presented challenges with the smaller tent, every hour we had to adjust our seating positions to stay in the shade. At times during the high sun the shade was plenty, but quite often as the sun was sinking lower we’d find that we just didn’t have enough. A great feature however was being able to use 2 or 3 poles as necessary to angle the shade some, however we may yet consider purchasing a larger tent just to maximize our shade and minimize our movements. Another thing we appreciated about the tent was that given the 4 fixed points it was very sturdy, even in high winds. Many people we saw had a different new shade canopy that consisted of one large pole arched into the sand with 1 anchor point up wind. While this system created a good area of shade, we imagine the constant flapping of the canopy was louder than we desired. The Sun Ninja provided quiet shade instead.

07/2024 – Updating after another season and 2 solid weeks of use – TOTALLY WORTH EVERY PENNY. This sucker is fantastic. We have put it through the wringer over the past two weeks, up and down every day, on the beach for hours with decent winds every day. It sets up in less than 5 minutes and stays up for as long as you want it to.Pro tips:- lay it out flat and stretch the corners as far as you can before digging a hole for each pocket. Fill the pockets with sand and bury each pocket in the hole you dug for it. The pockets can hold so much sand – fill them as much as you can. The more you fill and the deeper you bury them, the more wind it can withstand.- once the corners are filled and buried, place the poles about 6 inches in from the corners of the top and stand those suckers up.- if you donât want as much profile, you can get away with 2-3 poles in the front, setting the whole thing up like a lean-to.- secure the poles with the elastic ties and youâre golden.Update! I called customer service today and they returned my call within 10 mins. They ordered 2 replacement poles for me and expedited shipping so I will have the poles in 48 hours. Perfect customer service!Hi! Iâve been on the beach this week and we brought my Sun Ninja beach tent. Hereâs my honest review:So easy! Just stretch the tent out flat on the sand, pulling the 4 corner pouches out super far. Dig holes for each pouch and start filling the pouches with the sand. Make sure the pouch is filled to the brim and snug down in that hole, then cover the pouch with even more sand so itâs buried in that hole. Then place the poles about a foot in from the corner seams, rubber ball up, and stake them down in the sand. You can use 2 poles to do like a lean-to, or 4 to give you more room. Put the elastic bungees on top so they attach the tent fabric to the rubber ball and pull tight. Youâre done!When all the parts work, itâs amazing!Pros:â the XL is huge and shady and has room for 4 comfortably, but you could easily fit like 8-10 people under the shade in a pinchâ when all the parts are working, you can have it up in 5 mins or lessâ when you have it up and staked right, it can withstand a lot of wind, not just breezeâ comes with a great carry bag and small shovel to fill the pouchesCon – just one:â weâve had 2 faulty poles that get stuck and wonât quite fit all the sections together snugly – Iâm going to contact Sun Ninja and will update this review with their response

Worked well but took some practice
The first time we put this up at the beach it lasted a couple hours before the wind took it down. We read and followed the directions but it took watching a YouTube video that night with extra explanation to help us be successful in this thing staying up throughout the day. When the wind was heavy this really doesnât stay up. The people with the rainbow canopy, almost flag like, that was staying up much better on the windy days. With no to mild wind this canopy was really great. Light, easy, one person could put it together, and provided great shade. We bought the XL that was up to 8 people but really it was more comfortable for 4 with chairs.

Lo compré sin mucha fe en ello pero me sorprendió muchÃsimo.Lo probé un dÃa de mucho viento y aguanto en pie cuando las sombrillas no lo hicieron. Lo he colocado tanto en playas de arena como en playas de rocas y bien en las dos.La tela es de buena calidad, compré uno similar de otra tienda online y nada que ver y no ocupa nada una vez lo guardas en su funda. Tolle Qualität, sehr groÃ, es hält auch im Wind ziemlich gut.Es ist alles sehr praktisch verpackt.Wir haben keinen Probeaufbau gemacht, sondern es direkt am Strand auaprobiert… der Empfang für das Anteiltungs-Video war zu schlecht, aber wir wurden der Sache Herr. Wenn man es mal gemacht hat, geht es sehr gut.Pro-Tipp: Wenn man die Tasche zu Ende ausräumt, bevor man die Säcke mühselig mit der Hand füllt, findet man auch eine Schaufel darin….so geht es viel schneller.
