This is the third brand of charcoal I’ve tried. Honestly, they all seem about the same, except that these are double strength, meaning one pill equals two of the other brands. I consider that advantageous and reason enough alone — convenience — to buy these.Charcoal is another one of those supplements that is life changing for some people and useless for others. I’m somewhere in the middle. My IBS/bloat/gas symptoms are improved by taking one of these pills, but not hugely. Maybe 20 %. Still, every little bit helps. It takes an hour or so for it to “kick in” for me, and then I notice that I do seem less bloaty.It doesn’t turn my stools black, and I’ve had no side effects from it.You’re not supposed to take it within a couple hours of food or medication. The reason is that the charcoal soaks up whatever’s in your system, which could be nutrients or medications if they in your digestive tract when the charcoal finds them. For this reason, I usually take one at night, hours after my last meal. Sometimes this results in good mornings without bloat, sometimes not. You really just have to experiment and see if charcoal does anything for you.

Confusing
The product direction say to take 1 three times a day. Should be taken 3 hours before eating or 3 hours after eating. Lets think about this statement. So I get up at 4:30 AM, I take the first capsule. At 7:30 AM, I can eat. So now I have to wait 3 hours to take the next capsule, which will be about 11 AM. Well if I take a capsule at 11AM I am suppose to wait 3 hours to ea again. This just doesn’t work for me.
