A WAY IN FOR YOU AND YOUR BUDDING CONSTITUTIONAL SCHOLLAR
âWhat is the Constitution and why are the grownups always talking about it?â asked my precocious niece.âUh, well, the Constitution is the most important set of government rules in the world.ââThe government has rules?ââYesâ.âWhat kind of rules?ââRules that protect us citizens from the Government, itself, and tells elected people how to do things in a good and honest way.ââWho made up the rules? What are they?âDuh, how to begin?!To the rescue came Lisa Trusianiâs âThe History of the Constitutionâ.It was the perfect book to read and share with a curious, possibly future RBG. I particularly like the way that some of the ignorant aspects of our countryâs history are presented without undue weight.Disclaimer: I was given a review copy of this sweet book. However, I have purchased several copies for my little friends.

This book should be read by anyone new to our country and all the children in school. It’s imporant that Americans know why America is important. This book addresses that!

Everyone should read this
Hereâs a great starting book to learn about the Constitution! Itâs great for kids and really most adults should read it too. Then adults should go on to read more but at least they would have a baseline set of knowledge.

Great educational book for young children period. I even loved itâ¦
We must teach our kids the truth and not the fake woke, our country is great and this book does that and shows that. God bless our country and our childrenâ¦

THIS IS US!
Clearly and beautifully written. Read by a woman in her 60s, no less, to pass along to grandchildren so that they understand how this country came about and what our forefathers wanted for their new country. HINT: It’s not tyranny; it’s not socialism; it’s not lawlessness; it’s not big government. Maybe our President should read it 🙂

Great tool for learning about the Constitution
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy from Callisto Publisherâs Club. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. This introduction of the Constitution for new readers has a lot of good information. It starts with the colonies, the Revolutionary War, and the Articles of Confederation. It explains that after the Revolutionary War was won that the Constitution was needed to make the national government stronger and the state governments weaker so that they would actually be united. The delegates at the Constitutional Convention got a lot done in just three months. They had to make compromises, such as the issue of slavery which was already a hot issue. They also came up with the three branches of government that we still have today. The Bill of Rights is also explained. There are some extras in The History of the Constitution that will encourage children to learn. Some of the words are bold which means they are in the glossary in the back. There are also timelines and graphics called âWho,â âWhere,â and âWhen.â Occasionally thereâs an arrow with âJump in the Think Tankâ suggestions, which encourage children to think about what they might do in a given situation. Thereâs a quiz at the end as well as additional Think Tank questions. There is a lot to learn about the Constitution and how it was made, and this book is a good start to learning about its history.

Should be rquired reading in grade school
Lisa has done an extraordinary job taking a complex subject and making it accessible and engaging for young readers. The “Jump In The Think Tank” call outs, little infographics and pull quotes keep a reader’s interest and creates ongoing opportunities for continuing discussions and learning. As a student of history, I was so pleased to see Trusiani included Shays’ Rebellion, the issue of slavery, Sherman’s Great Compromise and so many other social and political dynamics that add so much texture and context. It’s a great book for young readers but don’t be surprised if you learn some interesting facts about the history of our beloved Constitution!
