my 2 year old likes it
I bought this after checking it out from the library. My two year old has become very interested in her body and this is a nicely done book. Not too complicated, and not too simple

Perfect Introduction to Body Science for Young Children
This is perfect for children to be introduced to the body and how it works without going over their heads or leaving it so infantile that there is nothing to learn. We used this as a jumping off point in science to talk about eating healthy exercise and how it impacts our entire system. But by itself it still holds their attention and interest… the page that showed food did not have enough greenery nor the rainbow of vegetables that I would have liked to see, but it is a jumping off point. Very happy we invested in this book!

Great concept but what the heck is up with the bag of chips?
I think the concept of the book and its intent are great. Kids learn from the stuff they see on the screen and in books, so what better way to convey the message of health and what makes our bodies strong. So I have to ask, what in the heck was the author thinking by having the kid sitting on the bench with his headphones on eating a bag of CHIPS on not 1, but 3 pages in the book. Seriously? I was hoping there would be some kind of statement made on how that wasn’t a great choice (and it does later touch on good nutrition) but it never does go back and point out the poor choice.Otherwise this would be a 5 star rating. Still good, but not great.

My students love to have this book read to them
I am a PE & Health teacher. My students love to have this book read to them, or to read it themselves when possible. The book is fact based, but written in a way children can understand. This makes it easy to re-visit the book, or pages of the book, to review facts.

Average only because it wasn’t the exact book (poetry etc) …
Average only because it wasn’t the exact book (poetry etc) that I used to read my children and students. I only wanted the one I remembered. This was similar, but not the same, even tho the name was the same.Nothing was actually wrong with the book, just not what I was looking for.

Review for The Busy Body Book– a good reference book
This is a good book for teaching kids how the body works. From muscles to bones to heart to brain. It breaks it down in easy to understand language for any age. I taught a lot of it to my preschool age children. It is a good reference book to refer back to.

This is a super little book that clearly explains the various body systems in a format that is suitable for younger children. Clear and colourful illustrations as well as a strong, encouraging message about the importance of physical activity to maintain good health are very well presented and great to have when children begin to ask questions about how their own bodies function. The illustrations are simple enough that a young child can comprehend them, where we have found other children’s books on human anatomy are either too graphic or complex for them to grasp the basic concepts of how our bodies work. My little one – age 5 – first discovered this amazing little book at our local library, and was so intruiged by it (after checking it out from the library MANY times) that I finally decided to purchase her a copy all of her own. It’s just a superb little book and a very useful addition to our home library!
