Have been purchasing these maps for many years since we go into the wilderness. Between connectivity and weather, we cannot depend on any electronics. Easy to read and use.

Excellent Detail, Easy to Read
In terms of detailed coverage of dirt roads and truck trails, this is the best roadmap I’ve ever owned. Road quality and usage (e.g. paved vs dirt, highway vs no regular maintenance) are easily discernible at a glance. I have the book version and I would recommend it if you are looking for detail as opposed to a more AAA-like general overview. The only negative is the physical size of the book. It is not thick or heavy but the pages are so big it won’t stack with books or magazines, won’t fit in glove box or side pocket. Basically, treat it like a book not a road map. The size of the pages are what enable its extreme level of detail AND complete coverage of entire state.

Beats Delorme for ease of reading, at a glance deciphering, clear designations and color coded and delineated boundaries. Better recreational markings than any other book-atlas.I have one for every Western state.

I am a desert rat familiar with the Nevada desert, and have a small home library of pioneer reminiscences and mining histories. This fine product has permitted me to locate ghost towns lost to many other compendiums, and even creek names mentioned by the pioneers, so that I could trace their paths. As a bibliophile and history buff, one of my most rewarding purchases.

Benchmark Maps for 4×4 Offroad Explorer
I originally had an old Benchmark Maps 2004 edition of the “Utah Road & Recreation Atlas” that I had used for many years for off-road navigation (this was way before the advent of online maps). Knowing that, in the event my electronic GAIAGPS online maps became inaccessible and unavailable, I needed paper “backup” maps to safely get me home. A couple of weeks ago while doing some on-location research, I had stopped in to see the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) folks to purchase some detailed hiking topographic maps. While browsing the store, I noticed they were also using the Benchmark Maps Road & Recreation Atlas series of maps as their reference material. I was already familiar with the Benchmark Map publisher, so I figured if these maps were good enough for the BLM, they would be good enough for me, too. Originally, I had starting looking at a different publisher of road and recreation topographic map books, but I’m glad I went with the updated Arizona, Nevada and Utah Benchmark Maps series. Hands down, the the Benchmark Maps Road & Recreation Atlas maps are the ones to buy.
