Turn excuses not to walk into great reasons TO walk
I found this book by listening to an interview with the author, Annabel Streets, on the Mind Body Green podcast. As soon as she explained that the book was inspired by the many excuses from friends and family for NOT walking with her (too cold, too muddy, too hungry, too long, etc.), I knew I had to get the book! I listened to the audiobook (yes, while walking), and once finished, I promptly got the kindle version to reference more easily and a hardcover version shipped off to my mother. I will be honest, the primary reason I loved this book is because the science supports everything I’ve already concluded from my own walking experience (I knew it!!) — PLUS, it gave me new ways to explore the various benefits available through a diverse walking repertoire.

Inspiring and well researched book.
Iâve been using the ideas in the book to make my walks more interesting. Since buying it Iâve read quite a few articles on line and in the NYT on the benefits of walking. Now Iâm considering the Camino Santiago next year. My only complaint is that my copy has bad binding and has come apart.

Weak binding
The book and it’s content are incredible. Unfortunately the quality of the book itself is lacking. The spine felt loose and once I started reading, the pages were already peeling at the bottom. Disappointed in the craftsmanship of the book. Love the content.

Lots of useful info
The named chapters made me shake my head too often – like, no way am I walking without shoes!!! But I learned that each chapter expands the knowledge of life around us and the health benefits related to moving our bodies one foot at a time. It reframes all the reasons we might put off an outdoor walk. It shares new ways to freshen up our daily steps!
