Really cool, reliable, self-contained fire starter.
Cool set-up whether for backyard fire pit or out in the field. The included tinders work like a champ but if you donât want to buy more thereâs room to stuff the watertight compartment with your fave spark-ignition starter or combo of both. Itâs a compact, lightweight, reliable, all-in-one package. Red lid and lanyard loop helps you find it and keep it handy too. Thank you Zippo! Nicely done.

Decent little fire kit
Been a long time since Iâve used anything from my camping stash but these are pretty good. The tinder is decent, a bit of a pain but just use a knife and youâre good. Canât speak for how waterproof it is as I havenât been out camping in the rain. Size is good. Perfect for building a little kit. As far as burn time, if weather is perfect and thereâs no wind I got about a 7 minute burn time for the tinder. Good price if youâre looking to build a kit for yourself or a friend.

Cool, needs no fuel
Bought two: for a Scout to make an Emergency Preparedness kit, and to put in our gear. Very simple setup, flint and sparking wheel, tinder stored in handle. No fuel to spill or worry about leaving inside a pack or tub in the house. Light weight, tinder can be replaced, and so can flint. Easy to use, spark smolders in cotton, add more burnable grass, twigs, and build a fire.

Works as intended
I managed to use it to light a campfire during a rainstorm, but it certainly wasn’t easy. The striker works great, but the fuel “marshmallows” are difficult to fray enough to light and stay lit. Once lit though, you’ll have a nice flame source for even a damp fire, and the case keeps everything dry.

Great little device
I am not sure why people are not impressed with this device. It is simple and waterproof and self contained. I didn’t even read the instructions. I pulled out the provided tinder roll. Poked it on a stick and loosened the bit of waxy cotton that snagged on the stick. Put the flint wheel against the provided tinder and struck the wheel. Second spin of the wheel it burst into flame. Burned for about 5 minutes and then I smashed it to extinguish the flame. I have used compression fire starters, flint and steel, and magnesium rods to start fires and this,by far, out performs them all. I get that it would be tough to light a tinder pile with the amount of sparks it throws but that isn’t the point of this device. It has its own tinder which lights with ease. The point of this device is a small, packable, waterproof, self contained fire starting device. And it is all those things for sure. All I would say is if you get cold and tired trying some other methods, you are welcome to come rest and warm up by the fire I started in the time it took you to shave off some magnesium chips. Now the real test of this product isn’t the ease of use or how well it works because that proof is there. It is if you can find refills?

Good survival tool
Tried it out and it works great. Tossed in in my survival tool kit after adding some Vaseline for a longer flame.

Its simple, light and effect. Its a no brainer?
The Zippo Emergency fire kit really speaks for itself and it’s a product that has been proven and tested. I purchase two kits for my edc bags as a back up to my own fire kit, because fire is key 2=1 and 1 is none. Its simple, light and effective to use and the cantainer is water proof, the waxed fire starter can burn for a minimum of 5 min and when u run out you could purchase and additional set of fire starters or keep matches or other tinder stored in the container, this kit is convenient and well thought out IMO, it’s all you need to start a fire neatly stored in one place. No cons and no i haven’t recieved a kick bac of any kind for leaving my review. I stand by any product that works and i do recommend this emergency fire kit.
