From seeing his previous illustrations, I knew that Christopher Denise would do an outstanding job of conveying the beauty and emotion of this story. A stately willow provides shelter over the seasons to a bunny needing a new home and later, when storms arrive (which are powerfully portrayed in imagery) Willow aids Bunny and other animals. When they realize that she now needs help, everyone quietly pitches in. The story might be short but it’s lovely and heartfelt. Friends help friends.

I love children’s books, always have. I’m a natural speed reader but children’s books enable me to slow down and experience the innocence and freshness of the world through a child’s eyes. Willow and Bunny is a simple story but is also very deep. It is a story of friendship, of trust, of neighborlyness, or camaraderie.
