The experiment paid off.
We all know the problem; mittens keep oneâs hands warm, but there is no dexterity when wearing them. When walking my dog, I must remove them in the cold to pick up the inevitable. Seeing the split mitten, I wondered if one could have the best of both worlds? After just one walk, the answer appears to be âyesâ. The quality of these mittens is superior, and they are very warm. Dexterity is adequate with the separate index finger slot. The early returns are in; it is a landslide for comfort, value, and quality. My advice; go for it.

Great for really cold days outdoors if you usually wear gloves
I have quite a few OutdoorMaster products as I find their designs and quality very good. I have never had a pair of glove/mitts like these but I have had numerous days my fingers get really cold but I refuse to wear pure mitts. These are a pleasant compromise. It still gives me enough dexterity to grip my ski poles, yet keeps 3 of my fingers warming each other.I like the back of hand zip pocket so I can put heat packs on those particularly cold days. The materials are solid for gloves and well insulated (however I have not had them in real cold yet). There are wrist straps, which I always wear for convenience when I take the gloves off while on a chairlift. I have always worn size large and bought those as there was no measurement chart that I could see. They fit perfectly except for the index finger. I don’t think I have particularly long fingers but my one finger hits the end of the glove. Since it is the one by itself, I do worry that it will be a bit colder with less movement. Maybe it will get roomier with use. We’ll see how this winter goes.

Love them
I have a few outdoor master pieces of snowboard gear and quality has always been good. Nice mid weight glove. No inner liner and not too thick. Lets call it your standard all temp glove. My hands did get a bit sweaty and warm when temps got over 30-33* in the afternoon but in the 15* morning they were perfect. I would have no issue rocking these at or below 0 but those warm spring days i might opt for something lighter. They fit true to size. They are plenty durable for everyday use however i would not suggest using these on tow ropes they simply arent designed for that type of abuse unless ypu have leather palm protectors to use in conjunction. 100% waterproof i had zero issues even in the afternoon when the snow got wet and heavy. Overall a great set of claw mitts for a super gpod price!

Loving the one finger mitts
I have Raynaud’s and get cold hands and feet exceptionally easily. Room temp almost does it. Funny enough I’ve also been skiing all my life, and it’s a constant battle to keep my hands warm. Mittens are required because gloves guarantee that I’ll instantly loose all heat in the individual fingers, but the loss of dexterity is quite annoying.I never considered that there was a mid point before but these are great! Having an extra finger actually does wonders for grabbing a pass out of your pocket, or a snack, without having to remove the whole mitten and instantly lose all the heat you have been cultivating. At the same time, it keeps most of my fingers together so my hand can stay warmer more easily or I can chuck a hot pack in there, and if my pointer becomes cold I can pull it into the shared compartment real quick and warm it up. I find that it happens less often because some of the heat from the shared finger compartment helps my hand as a whole stay warm anyway.Solid upgrade if you’re in my position!

The Best Parts of Mittens & Gloves.
Iâd been eyeballing a set of Hestra 3-digit gloves for years after trying a friendâs pair, but I never bought my own because of the price. These gloves are a pretty good substitute at a much more reasonable price. The three-finger design is the real seller here, as it captures most of the benefit of mittens (more fingers together equals more warmth), but still allows you to operate a phone. Best of both worlds. These gloves are also comfortable and the construction quality seems pretty good.In short, Iâm happy with these.

Warm, not great with sweat
No complaints on warmth on these (lobster-type gloves are good for that), but that’s also a bit of a downfall, they were quite clammy, without doing a great job wicking away moisture or breathing. I was eager to get them off by the time I finished my day skiing.

Warm and waterproof
I use mittens in the winter when hiking because my fingers get too cold if I wear gloves. On the coldest days I’ll use hand warmers inside the mittens and often I’ll pull my thumb out of it’s thumbhole to warm it up with the rest of my fingers. On the days I’m not using a hand warmer my issue is when I take the mittens off because I need to grab something and the mittens are too clumsy. These 3 finger mittens allow me to keep the mittens on and still be able to grab things. I can also pull both my thumb and index finger out of their holes and get all my fingers together if I need to warm them up. And on those real cold days there is enough room to use a hand warmer. These also seem warmer than the mittens I’ve been using but I won’t know how much better they may be until I hit the coldest parts of this winter.
