They go on easy and seem to work very well. But I don’t believe that they will last long because the rubber is very thin and the cleats seem to be Attached in a flimsy way. They Give you great traction and they stay on the shoe well. They also don’t seem to scratch the Concrete driveway. All in all not bad for the price.

These cleats are not bad for the price however, after one use, four of the cleats came off and even though they send replacements for it, I used them all. They are pretty easy to install. The question is where do you get more replacement cleats?

Works way better than expected
I bought these for a trip to Iceland in December. Several tours we were taking in Iceland recommended we have crampons. Not wanting to spend a lot of money (I was already spending alot for this trip) I went with these cheap pairs, thinking it would do the bare minimum of the job but was also ready and even expecting to see it fall apart (based on the reviews I’ve read from other people). It actually held up, and I didn’t lose a single stud on my hikes through icy Iceland! I’m happy to now have a pair of crampons for my next winter excursion.

poor design, spikes fall out
the design of the spikes is poor-the heel spikes are not over the heel of the shoe when the sole spikes are in correct position. Additionally, after using them once for 3 miles, 4 of the spikes had fallen out, making it almost useless.

I was pleased my cleats arrived in the early morning in time to put them to use walking with my dog in the icy woods near my home. They slipped on easily and I was able to walk on ice and snow feeling confident not to slip. I did find the front of the cleats did shift and I had to adjust them. They are reasonably priced but may not last that long but served their purpose in keeping me from falling. I gave four stars because of the shifting on the feet.

Not to be facetious with the “headline”, but if you think these are going to help on *mixed* snow/ice, nope. On sheer ice, yep. On a mixed surface, particularly one with bare spots right down to the sidewalk cement, they’re actually dangerous as your foot doesn’t land flat, so twisting your ankles becomes quite easy. If the surface is uneven (i.e., climb a snowbank then hit ice, then a mix), these sometimes twist to the side of the boot and now you’re walking on a pokey thing on one side of your boot and on nothing on the other side because the other pokey bit is facing towards the side. Again, recipe for twisting and slipping. In fact, on frozen bare cement or asphalt, these can slip easily. I carted them around all winter but only used them three times after the first harrowing experience. And when you do use them, take care to pull them on straight and tight or you’ll spend the whole walk bending over on ice while you try to set them right. That said, they wash easily and aren’t heavy – important because you have to remove them before entering anywhere or you’ll be on your rear PDQ: no good on floors, including in subway stations, on stairs, or on subways!
