Adorable, sturdy, easy to put together
This cat house is SO cute. It’s way more attractive than the plastic bins I set up for stray kitties. It almost looks like a dollhouse.
It is made from real cedar and smells strongly of it. If you are sensitive to smells or just don’t like cedar, I would put the bigger pieces outside for a day or two to air out. I love cedar so I was okay building it indoors the same day I got it.
Putting together the house itself took less than an hour. All you need is a screwdriver, everything lined up and went together easily.
I insulated mine with reflective insulation and foil tape, which took some time but wasn’t hard, and I’m not handy. I also carpeted the floors with removable carpet pieces and put a heating pad on the first floor. Talk about a deluxe suite!
The roof is definitely not weatherproof. I insulated mine and then caulked the areas where water could get through. The outside of the roof is tarred but it could potentially leak at the gaps where the pieces go together.
The only thing I’m not pleased about are the door flaps. Mine came bent and are useless—the air just blows right in. I tried adding another layer of “door flaps” with foil tape but it looks dumb and doesn’t work. I’ll have to find an alternative to block the wind.
Overall, this is the best you are going to get for the price. I’m really pleased. I’m happy I bought it and hope some strays will have a five star stay this winter and I’m hoping the reflective insulation will keep it cool in the summer.

Decent size, real wood, easy assembly
It was packed nicely with foam to keep the wood safe, and came quickly with prime. I used a drill and a wrench for the assembly. I put this together by myself. It really didnt take that long to put together. There are wood flaws, but that’s natural being it is real wood. The preassembled parts could have been put together more snug, or cuts been more precise for the bottom pieces, but it really is acceptional when you see it as a work of art. The only thing I didn’t like, is that the front door flaps do not come with it that is slightly visible in ad photos. I live in Michigan and I’m definitely going to have to figure something out for that front door for true winter weather. Which is why I gave it a 3 star on weatherproof. Otherwise, the roof is solid and good quality. The back door isn’t perfect, but it works. Like the back door, and I saw one random drilled hole in the front, I imagine ventilation was in mind. I thought the front would have a similar door to the back, but based on the add photos it is hard to tell. The directions were clear and there are predrilled screw holes. You can’t really miss where it all goes together following directions. Extra screws were included. The blue blanket in my pictures is an additional purchase. It is a self warming blanket also bought on Amazon. The over hang for the front door was a small challenge to get fully in place, but it all looks really good. I wouldn’t go sitting on it, but it is solid. When I opened the box I could smell fresh wood right away. The mini deck isn’t attached to the body of the hut, but is a nice touch. Now to find the perfect location for this new addition for my furry friend family ☺

Easy to put together and beautiful!
Was able to put this together in less than an hour. Easy to understand instructions, durable, cat loves it! The flower bed is adorable.

It stinks!
We have tried to air this thing out for several days because the chemical pine stench is SO HORRIBLE that you can smell it outside, on the porch, when I open my front door. There is no way a cat would be willing to sleep in this, and it’s not insulated.

Received box and parts were packed very well inside the box. A bit tricky trying to build it yourself. I spent about 40 minutes putting it together. Would recommend having a second person to hold the frame while you screw the pieces together. House was painted red with white trim. This is a two floor house. There are two small entrances for each floor, with clear plastic flaps. I removed the plastic flaps as my two cats were reluctant to step inside with them in the way. There is also a small window for the cats to see out. This window has about a 1″ sized hole in it to allow some air to come through. There are also two large doors on the left side of house for each floor. These doors are pre-installed and have locks on each door. Each foot can be adjusted in case of uneven floors which is nice feature. I have purposely left the roof of the house unscrewed so that I can get more access inside. Overall, it is a beautiful little cat house. It’s about 20 inches by 20 inches which is pretty roomy. The bottom floor is about 1 foot tall and the second floor is taller due to the roof section. The second floor has a large opening so that the cats can go up or down a floor. I’ve been trying to coax my two cats to investigate inside using cat treats but they are still hesitant. I’m not sure if it may be the smell of the wood which is quite noticeable. I have a turtle enclosure that is built using the same type of wood and it has a very “pine” like smell to it. I’m experimenting further by putting in a fleece liner to see if that makes it more comfortable for the cats. All in all, I think it’s a great little cat house. Kind of looks like a little barn house. It looks great and love the two floors. Wish it didn’t smell so strong.
