Excellent bodyweight workout book with two different styles
This is excellent book for general bodyweight workout. One thing to note is that it may take several hours to complete the workout.(for example, do 2mi run, 6mi ruck, and additional PT)The nice thing about the book is that it explains the difference between army, navy, and air force. The training is similar, but the goal is different for each of those three branches. Also, the reader can see different style of workout from the two authors. The book can be divided into two part: Mejia wrote the 1st half, and Smith wrote the 2nd half.Mejia’s workout is mostly calisthenics with NO running or swimming, but it is very well-balanced between upper vs lower body, and push vs pull motion. On the other hand, Smith’s workout combines calisthenics, running, swimming, and rucking. He uses calisthenics mostly for upper body only, and uses running for lower body. So, the two authors have different workout styles.

a MUST for a future spec ops soldier
Stew smith is a stud. period. i am an 18 year old aspiring air force PJ and i was looking for any edge i could get my hands on to help me succeed in joining special forces. i just started this workout and it kicks serious butt! i have played football hardcore my whole life and boxed on the side, so i consider myself (humbly) as a fairly tough individual. however, there is always room for improvement, so i looked for some help on specific training and advice on mental toughness. this book will help, motivate, and encourage you to be the best you can be at anything. i am so happy i finally found something legitimate that would help me reach my goals. i especially enjoyed the personal advice and recommendations Stew provides. a great book!!!

A good basic text on the various physical fitness routines of our special operation units. A good read.
I have been into physical fitness all my life. Now at my advanced age I continue to work out seven days a week and I am always seeking new workout routines. I have tried numerous different types of workout programs such as aerobics, circuit (My favorite programs) workouts, and various weight training programs like barbells, dumbbells and Kettlebells, and my second favorite fitness programs, the military and special operation units’ workout routines.I picked up this book (The Special Ops Workout by Mike Mejia and Stewart Smith.) at a bargain price on Amazon and just finished reading it. Even though it contains exercises I was already familiar with; nevertheless, I found this volume to be interesting and informative showing several different special ops workout routines. I have read numerous volumes on specific military fitness (U.S. Navy SEALS, Army Ranger etc.) programs but what I liked about this book was that it covers workout routines from all the special ops units of the military. This book is organized into four parts. Part one explains what special ops are all about what is required of these special units. The second part covers “The special ops 12-week workout” which includes stretches; upper and lower body exercises core exercises and the 12-week workout schedule. The third part deals with the “Advanced 6-week workouts.” Army Ranger and Green Beret Workout, Air Force PJ/CCT workout and Navy SEAL workout. The final part emphasizes the important of special ops nutrition. There is also an appendix section. In conclusion, whether you desire to join a special ops unit or just want to get into fantastic shape, this book provides a good solid basic guideline.Rating: 4 Stars. Excellent Book
Stew Smith knows his stuff. A former Navy SEAL and he trains the would be mid-shopmen at the Naval Academy’s Summer program. My son was there and he said it’s the best traininghe ever had. Stew is knowledgable and this is not the only book from Stew i own. He is truly an expert in his field.

Interesting, but not very useful to me
I got this mainly out of curiosity — I don’t expect my fitness level to ever come close to “special ops” skills. Anyway, I thought it was interesting that the exercises focused mainly on fundamentals. There wasn’t much in the way of variations, just the standard classics, with a lot of repetitions. Also, don’t leave this out in the open where friends visiting you might see it — you really don’t want them asking you to ‘drop down and give them 50’ every time you turn around.
