Great shoe–wish the sole was as durable as the upper. Runs very, very large (but it didn’t used to)
I have used this exact shoe for years. It’s a very fine and comfortable shoe. It looks very nice with chinos and a dress shirt. It’s relatively lightweight due to the foam-based sole. The leather is quite soft for a shoe of this type and becomes more so over time. It has kind of a greasy look to it, so the right treatment is dubbin.This shoe is quite waterproof. Can you step in pretty deep water and it will shed it completely…as long as it doesn’t get up over the top. If you periodically treat it with dubbin, even the leather will not be harmed by exposure to water. Very nice shoe for wet weather.Both times I have previously bought this shoe it lasted about 2.5 to 3 years. This is not a real long time, in my opinion. At the end of that time the leather is still in perfect condition and well connected to the sole. However, the foam the sole is made out of does not last particularly well. It wears down quite quickly and pretty soon is thin. You start feeling the bumps on the ground beneath you. Finally it breaks through. I really wish they would make the sole out of a more durable material as in other ways this is an outstanding shoe. If the sole was on par with the upper, it would be very durable indeed. I guess that’s why Doc Martens cost twice as much–their sole has some durability to it.Note that in running shoes I wear a 9.5. Knowing that leather can stretch over time, especially if exposed to water, I buy a full size small. At first you can hardly walk in it and it is always snug, but that was the right size. That was the first two shoes. This one is also an 8.5 but it is much, much, much larger than its predecessors. It’s bordering on too large for me from day 1. I compared it to my old shoe and even the sole is noticeably longer. They have purposely changed their sizing. If you buy one today, be sure to get at least a full size smaller than you normally wear because this shoe is now very LARGE for its size.

Good work shoes, but the soles wear out quickly
These shoes have been great for work, but they only lasted about 6 months. Granted, I do work in a laboratory dealing with coal, limestone, and various other matrices, but I would think the soles of a good shoe would last longer than these have. With that being said, the shoes are comfortable and are definitely stain-resistant. I’ve spilled or dripped many different acids and caustics on them over the past 6 months and they’ve held up well (except for the soles, of course). These are good work shoes if you don’t mind replacing them every 6 months.

Update Feb 2019 – After I posted my review, I was reading other really bad reviews about this shoes and noticed a few comments from people that said Dockers changed part of the shoe from leather to plastic, and realized that’s why this pair killed my feet for the first 6 weeks I had them. I’ve had multiple pairs that I took out of the box and immediately walked for miles with problems. With this pair, I had blisters for 6 weeks just walking back and forth to my truck every day.For the first 10 months I had these, I walked to and from my truck when I went to work. At work, I changed into a pair of boots. I also wore them when I went grocery shopping once a week. I haven’t worn them that much and they were shot a long time ago. I kept wearing them though and now am having problems with my back because they throw my gait, hips, and spine out of alignment.Not only would I never buy this style again, I will never buy another Dockers product that is made in that country on the other side of the Pacific that produces nothing but garbage. In the hopes that Dockers might read these comments, I want you to know I am searching for good value, not the lowest price. The lowest price is not always the cheapest. I’ve been buying Dockers products for 30 some years but that ended with this pair of ‘shoes’ you pawned on me. You fooled me once, you won’t have the opportunity to do so again.Original post;I’ve bought at least 5 or 6 pair of these same shoes and never had a problem with them until this pair, but I will not buy them again.I started buying these during vacations to a location where I would walk anywhere from 10 to 30 miles a day. They are very comfortable and have always worn well until now. I’m sure I have walked hundreds of miles in the other shoes I purchased but I only wear these occasionally and they are completely shot after 9 months. They must have changed the rubber compound they use on the heels and soles and it is way to soft to stand up to even minimal wear. Do not buy.

Loved these shoes and was hesitant ordering online because I couldn’t find ones that fit at my local store. They are a solid shoe that lasts. If you polish the uppers, they will last a long time (yes, I know that only a grandpa polishes shoes, but I am one now.)
