Best book for new widows
I love this book.i lost my hubby of 62 years 38 days ago. My â¤ï¸ is broken. My friend sent this book for me & mailed it to me. I love it because it talks about the practical struggles of a new widow. It has corresponding Scriptures with it. I read one or two sections at night lying in bed. I will be sad when it ends & will read it again. I ordered 4 of them to give to friends because it is so meaningful to me!

Help for Widows
Over the last few years I have given this book to seven friends who recently lost their husband.Peggy called it a special book. And she says, “I tried to read one excerpt each day. But some days I need more than one.I spend a few minutes reflecting on the accompanying scripture. I really appreciate the way the author, Gayle Roper, connects the raw emotions of grief with words from scripture that respond to those feelings. It is comforting. It gives me hope.”Over and over I hear these women say this book has made a tremendous difference in their lives as they grieve the loss of their husbands. Bravo to the author and many blessings.

real help in a tender story format
This is a one-of-a-kind book that has transformed me through my own grief and those I have given it to. Gayle has given us a gift through her own journey. Her writing is beautiful and sometimes humorous in the real struggles in grief daily lived. The Bible verses at the end of each story truly capsulized the intention. I gave this to my mom and she read the whole thing and said it was the most helpful. She’s reading it again each night. My husband and I read it with a griefing widower every morning since the loss of his wife. I wish there was a sequel to this!

widowâs Journey
Very insightful. Helped to identify thoughts and feelings. Very helpful for the journey. Honest explanations of thoughts and feelings as you grieve.

Very relatable
This is a hopeful personal journal-like book of the author’s experiences during the second and third years following her husband’s death, with numerous relevant bible verses interspersed with her entries. I could relate to many of her experiences and it is reassuring to learn another widow has had similar crazy, weird, awful thoughts and experiences. Because of the very personal nature of the writings the reader may find some references not applicable to their experience (widows with dependent children or a demanding job for example may not find references to being at loose ends or the author’s new situation of open choices and having freedom of choices familiar). But, an easy read, something you can pick up and read in small doses or large, and as stated already reassuring to know someone else has had thoughts that I’d had but was hesitant to share with anyone. I would recommend to widows already on their journey looking for a helpful read for dealing with and understanding their grief in a Christian context.

Recent widows can relate
I got this for my mom after the recent loss of my dad and she really enjoyed it. She’s telling all her friends that are recent widows that they need to get it cuz it really spoke to her and she could see a lot of parallels between what was being written and her own life and loss.

An amazingly spot on book
As a recent widow, this book brought me, comfort, clarity, wisdom, understanding and hope for the days, weeks, months and maybe years ahead. The Bible verses were so what I needed to hear. Thank you, Gayle. You gave me promise for my future.

The sharing of the intimate journey of the author as a widow was helpful. Shared book with another recent widow and she found it very easy to identify with and she in turn is sharing the book with others. W
