Finally, a hiking/trail running shoe for big guys!
At 6â5â and 250 pounds, finding a light shoe that works for rough/off trail hiking or trail running is really, really hard. The endorphin Edge is the first shoe that really nails it for me. Foot box is not crazy wide like Altra or keen, not not too snug like Salomon. These are super cushiony, yet protect the bottom of your foot with a tough and stiff carbon fiber rock plate built into the shoe. No more painful foot bottoms on the AT in Pennsylvania! The lugs on the sole grip very well on slick trails. My heel stays locked without being laced up overly tight. The uppers synthetic materials breath well, dry very fast and are not showing any signs of wear after about 50 miles. There is not a super thick toe Rand to protect from stubbed toes like on many off trail shoes, but I have not found this to be a problem. Saucony, please donât change a thing on these shoes. They are uniquely great for heavy off/rough trail hikers and runners. I just ordered two more pairs just in case.

Stability and cushion.
Great shoe. Best cushion of any trail shoe I have owned. Love them.

Light, comfortable, a stellar shoe
I’ve had lots of positive experiences with Saucony shoes and these didn’t disappoint. Most notably I wore these for 34 hours of a backyard ultra, logging 127 miles without a shoe change and one small blister on a pinky toe. They are a little tippy due to the stack height and the grip isn’t as trustworthy as Vibram for east coast trails, but I’m happy to make an exception for exceptionally light, responsive foam, and a quality fit.

Foam is so brittle.
The foam in this shoe is so brittle, especially for a trail shoe. It seriously feels like the old white foam block they use for packaging. I have multiple chunks taken out after only a few runs with these and they are only a month old. Very comfortable a light, but they did last a month. Worst, most unreliable pair of shoes I have ever purchased. Now the tread is peeling away from this crappy foam. 4 months old.

A bit difficult to put on
Awesome shoes, better than Hoka, or Brooks for the money! The only caveat is these do not slip on easily. This is the only complaint I have and itâs not a big deal to me as they are super comfy!

Not Usual Saucony buy
I have been wearing Saucony shoes for over 30 years. I walk my dogs over 20 miles per week in them so I wear them out pretty quick. Hence I have had a lot of their shoes over the years These Edge are particularly difficult to get on. They have a thick padded sole and really cushion your step. The shape of the sole however makes them feel very unstable and the first few times I wore them I felt like I was going to fall over. After a few a hundred miles I have finally got used to the odd feel. My biggest criticism is with the grip. On wet pavement they are very slippy and on icy walks that are scary bad. I am also a bit disappointed at the thickness of the tread and I dont think I am going to get many miles out of them. The uppers are well constructed

Great shoe for big and tall runners!!
They call us big and tall runners CLYDESDALES and it’s tough finding a good shoe for distance trail running. I’ve been a long time fan of the Saucony Peregrine models. However, as good as they are they didn’t have quite enough cushion for a runner my size. I’m 6’3 250 lbs and after reading a review by another large runner I opted for the Endorphin Edge. It is stacked higher than my Peregrine’s, but it has not been an issue. The cushioning is awesome and the rebound effect in the shoe really propels my stride forward. The grip is great and the carbon plate is protective. It also has a thin rubber coating around the toe area which helps prevent snags. My Peregrine’s have snagged in some brush on thicker trails and have had small tears in the fabric in the toe area. So, hopefully this coating will prevent that. Overall, great fit and support for the money for big runners!!

Seems great but hard to fit, unstable
First off, these are REALLY easy to roll. That’s perceptible just in your home. Put them on, use your glut meds to push your legs outward, and you’ll feel these wanting to roll, or actually rolling, immediately. I compared them side-by-side to all my other running shoes (mostly Hoka, road and trail) and they were all FAR more stable in that simple test.If you have narrow feet you may have trouble with these. I wear men’s size 13 and normally that means to most shoe companies that you are a gargantuan human with not only long feet but brick-shaped. My feet are fairly narrow. Most salcony size 13s are way too big in volume and these are no exception. In order to get these to not have significant slop I have to put an arch support insole in on top of the existing insole. For reference for just about every other shoe brand when they are a bit sloppy all I need to do is replace the existing insole with an arch supported sole. I thought that might be limited to my size but I bought a pair of these for my daughter who wears women’s 10 and it is the exact same problem. In practical terms that means that the shoe is too sloppy to use on technical trails. The narrow stance and bouncy and rolly ride exacerbates that feeling. So that means it is relegated to smoother fire roads and crushed rock or other Forest paths. On those surfaces I am normally completely comfortable in a regular road shoe and if racing on one you’d be fine with something like an endorphin pro 4 or a Nike vapor fly.Maybe there is a perfect in between course for this shoe and at the discounted prices below $100 perhaps that’s worth it.Let’s address misconceptions about the technology. Carbon plates don’t really make you any faster. The research shows it is a 1% boost at best. The shoe companies that jumped on the super shoe bandwagon by inserting carbon fiber plates while using their same old Eva foams did not see much speed return for their athletes. That is why they all finally switched to some form of pebax for their high performance shoes. It is also why the world athletic associations placed a maximum stack height rule on these shoes. The foam is the spring. What these plates CAN do is stabilize the extreme squishiness you get from the high stack heights and squishy pebax foam in a shoe like this. They also keep the shoes stiff so the forward action of your foot roll feels like a propulsive push off in your heel. That’s stiffness is not always welcome however. The durability concerns shown in many of these other reviews have me wondering if this shoe is even worth the 70 or $80 it costs on sale.

Every reviewer notes this is an expensive shoe.It fits as expected, but some runners wear a .5 size larger in a shoe for foot swelling while running, I did.The bouncier a shoe is, the less stable it feels. This is cushy ride and I don’t regret it.

No insoles and look second hand. What on earth?!

I haven’t been able to walk and exercise in more comfortable shoes in a very, very long time. The material is interesting: lightweight, but seemingly quite durable.

A piture tells 1000 words. I bought a second pair of those because I had a race to run and my 1st pair was destroyed in 4 runs !! I did not wanted to change shoes just before the race.I did 1, yes ONE 10km run and the result can be seen in the picture. This is a 190 eur pair of shoes !! Totally unacceptable. Do not buy these shoes if you are a runner, they will hardly take you through your front door….
