Best sticks ever!
I like these brand better than othersâ¦.. light weight, durable, and sturdy. The AS is way better, all Leki products are built tough. I am glad they continue with the anti-shock concepts because of wrist and arm relief. Nice that they now use clamps instead of the twist locks which allow faster adjustment on the fly. The corking and padding below grips is a plus in adjusting hand placement. Only knock is the lashings or straps are a little flimsy. I like to lock my wrist into these and these straps seem they wonât hold up but we will give them a go!

Strong and dependable
Weâre retired and wanted to get out walking down our quiet country neighborhood. Iâm a big guy with bad knees and want to safely drop 50 lbs. I prefer the aluminum versus the carbon because it wonât crack when temp goes below freezing. We really like the safe and secure feeling they give us, and if an aggressive coyote bothers us itâs in for a painful surprise!

Nothing Great About “Great Lakes Outpost”
$150 hiking poles should be problem-free right out of the box and for decades to come – not these: I road-tested these on two separate hikes totaling about 16 miles and several thousand feet of elevation gain, only to find that they would not stay locked in place, and kept slipping – the cardinal sin of an adjustable hiking pole. I found that I had to tighten the thumbscrew to the max in order to get the lock to not slip, but that also made it difficult to lock and unlock the pole section as it applies maximum pressure to the pole. After the second – and final – hike, I threw in the towel and returned these to Great Lakes Outpost, informing them that in my sixteen miles and several thousand feet of elevation gain, they failed to perform, and were, in my opinion, defective: “FULL REFUND, please”. Instead, Great Lakes Outpost tells me they are not defective, from the comfort of their office, and not real-world conditions. Which means they charged me a “re-stocking fee”. Sorry – “restocking fees” should never apply to a defective item – a FULL REFUND is in order. When brought to their attention, they continued to refuse to refund the restocking fee. I had to then invoke Amazon Customer Service, non-English speaking customer service reps, and robots who promised me that I could speak to them like a real person and they would understand what I’m saying (Nyet!), to finally arrive at a supposed ‘promotional voucher’ for the restocking fee that will magically appear in my account when I order an Amazon item – not a third-party seller item. There’s something to be said for going into REAL stores and talking to REAL people who immediately grasp and understand your problem, and solve it on the spot. This corporate behemoth knows nothing of what “customer service” means. And Great Lakes Outpost: Why would I ever order anything from you ever, again?

Quality Decline
I had a pair of Leki hiking sticks that I bought about 20 years ago. They had spring anti-shock mechanisms and twist locks for each section. Unfortunately, they were lost in early September while going through TSA inspections. Someone walked off with them I believe. The spring mechanisms were far superior to the current anti-shock devices located near the handles. They provided great shock absorbtion on downhills and helped immensely in propelling one uphill as well. The new sticks I purchased don’t provide much benefit at all as far as I can tell. And I found the twist locks to be much easier to use and much quicker to adjust as well.Sometimes it’s better to leave things alone instead of trying to improve them. In this case, their improvements are anything but.

Not Antishock
Poles with an antishock feature are important for the terrain where I hike. Although I researched this product and purchased it for the antishock feature, these poles do not have it.
