    Stable in wind and rain.
I bought this awhile ago for beach car camping on Portsmouth Island (Outer Banks of North Carolina). This past week was my first chance to put it to the test. First off I violated the first rule of camping. I did not do a practice run with setting it up. My wife and I figured it out but the directions were sketchy. The basic set up was fairly straight forward but there are a plethora of straps and buckles with no clear instructions about how to use them. But, as I said, we figured it out. We used specialty sand stakes to anchor the four corners and we set up a large canopy over the front access door for shade. On our third night we got serious wind and rain. The the tornado warning went off about 9:00 PM. There was really nothing to be done except for my wife and I to hunker down with our two dogs in the back of the car. After the tornado warning was lifted, we had a long night of heavy rain and strong winds and the tent stood up to it really well. It was very stable for such a large and tall tent and there was almost no leakage in the driving rain. There was a hint of water that got under the rain fly but nothing that was a problem.I would highly recommend this tent. It is tall and roomy and docks very securely to the hatchback of our Subaru Outback. Paired with a collapsible awning it makes a great car camping system.

Nice Tent, good quality upon unboxing (not used in field yet.)
As a seasoned camper, I found this relatively easy enough to assemble alone; two makes it even quicker.Nice quality, appropriately priced. My review is based on initial unboxing without using it in the field yet. I am only rating EXPECTED durability based on past tents I’ve used and this unit’s materials.DEFINITELY do a practice setup, and at that time, get a few bottles of seam sealant to treat the outsides of the threads on the seams. Although nicely sewn, and sealed on the inside, the outsides of the seams can use protection too…. Get a few bottles — it’s a big tent.Nice features:– I like the entry port for running power into the tent, allowing all zippers to remain closed.– It appears there is a (heat resistant?) mesh buffer layer sewn onto the exterior of the portal where contact with still-hot exhaust pipes is possible.– Projection screen is a nice additional thought, it can be mounted on passenger side wall, or on the rear wall.– I like the feature of having locking pins attached to the tent corners for fastening the poles. No grommets to try to force a pin on a pole to match and stay in.The power entry port and heat resistant mesh are related: DO NOT RUN YOUR VEHICLE WHILE USING ANY TENT! [Unless you’ve written me into your will, and you’ve tattooed “D.N.R.” on your chest….]) Get a dedicated power bank for your excursion. GoalZero makes some great products of various sizes, with solar panels that charge them.

Surprisingly easy to set up as a standalone tent.
I am using this tent on a cross-country trip. The photos I’ve added are the first place I camped.THINGS I LOVE ABOUT THIS TENT: – I was able to set it up for the first time, as a standalone tent, after mindnight, by myself. I had it up in about 15-20 minutes. I have very little camping experience and have never set a tent up before.- Wind. There has been some big wind here and the tent was solid. And quite windproof. Only when a gust came from a particular angle and got up beneath the rain fly did any of the cold air make it inside. I think this is outstanding, given that the ceiling of the tent comprises 3 mesh panels and one solid panel. – Rain. This morning it rained pretty hard and, apart from the lovely sound of the drops hitting the tent, it had no effect on my experience. – Warmth. Currently, I’m at a site with an electrical hookup. Using a small heater (Dreo, also purchased on Amazon), it is entirely comfortable. Sometimes **too** warm! It’s been getting down into the mid-to-low 30s (ºF) at night, so I think that’s pretty great. I haven’t even had to break out my heavy-duty sleeping bag yet. Just a blanket and a ground pad. Granted, it’s a warm blanket. On the warmer nights, in the 50s (ºF), just a Therma Rest camp blanket (the kind you can put around your shoulders, etc., a one person blanket) has been plenty. – Comfort. The spacious dimensions of this tent are great. No floor area is lost to sharp angles. I have me, my large dog, work materials, and lots of stuff I’m sorting through while deciding what to take with me on my trip, it’s more than enough room. (On the other hand, I have no idea how five people could sleep in here, unless it was sardine can-style.) – Heavy duty Velcro, where Velcro is used. – A totally unexpected Velcro-ed opening at the lower left of the front of the tent for running a power cord inside!THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THIS TENT: – 6 mesh pockets on the walls for storing small things. – The windows and door screen flaps are easy to roll into the space between the bottom of the zippers and the actual bottom of the window. – The windows and door screen only roll down to waist height, which is a nice privacy enhancer. – The structure of the ceiling means that using an indoor stove, such as a Vesta (also purchased on Amazon), is easy and does not require stove pipes or a stove jack. **note: the Vest burns small cans of fuel that are purported to release little-to-no carbon monoxide, but I would not feel comfortable using it in a completely sealed tent** – Useful loops and loop-and-toggle in convenient places. You could hang a lantern from the middle top of the ceiling with the sturdy hook provided. I was able to string the lights you see in one of the pictures by connecting them to loops in the upper corners. Etc. There is still one loop, made of the tent fabric, on the outside upper left of the door, for which I have not figured out a purpose, but can think of a number of ways to make use of it. – The many thoughtful details make it possible to set up and rearrange things as best suits your needs. – The tent stakes go in easily, are very easy to clean when they come out, and have a solid construction.THINGS THAT COULD USE IMPROVEMENT: – The zipper along the bottom of the door does not have great clearance for the small piece fabric meant to block wind, etc., where the two zippers meet. It’s a bit annoying to have to take several tries to get it closed without catching the fabric. – Since I am *not* attaching it to my car at this time, the part of the tent that becomes the linking tunnel are awkwardly situated on the outside of the tent. If you look at the first photo, you can see it kind of billowing out and obscuring the window/door on that side. The night time photo shows how I tried to roll it up.There are no directions for the standalone function included with the tent—despite the fact that it was an advertised feature when I purchased it—so I searched online for directions or videos for how to stow it when not in use. I found nothing. So, I rolled them up as best I could figure out, given where there are loop-and-toggle structures on the outside of the tent. BUT, I could not find a way to do so that doesn’t create ample opportunities for water, detritus, and insects to get inside and stay there.I want to believe that there is a way to stow it neatly and in a way that prevents these intrusions, but haven’t figured it out, or a way to find out. I think the best option would be if it zipped on and off, or had a pouch it could be zipped into on each side and the bottom. – The instructions. The instruction card is made of durable material, but gives so little information as to be almost comical. When I tried, some months ago, to set the tent up by using them, I failed even after an hour and forty-five minutes of trying. I think the reason it went up so quickly this time, is that I didn’t use the instructions. I looked at the components and put it together. The first time, I put the rain fly up 180º opposite of how it is meant to be, because neither the instructions nor my mind could figure out where the pole for the doorway goes. [Hint: it’s not attached to the door or tent. It’s a pocket on one edge of the rain fly.]. And, as I said, it offers no information about how to use the tent as a standalone, not connected to your vehicle. And, as a novice, one thing I really notice missing is instructions on how to fold it to get it back in the bag. – The 6 mesh pockets on the wall would benefit from a center-top Velcro attachment. I plan to add one to each. – Finding a way to contact the company is very difficult. One can find a mailing address, but, so far, I have not found a phone number. I want to call them to ask about how to stow the car attachment when not in use. All in all, I think this tent provides good value for money, so far. Time will tell how the fabric coating holds up, etc., but I think my cross-country trip home is going to be really pleasant with this tent. It’s so spacious that I doubt I will ever connect it to my car. There’s really no reason to, at this time. If I were in a heavy duty mosquito environment, it might be more appealing, though. This is late October, and I’m in the northern half of the country, so mosquitos are not very present. I am happy with this purchase.

This tent is easily the best I’ve ever seen. We used it on a two week road trip with a Honda Element. It was bone dry inside even when it was pouring rain, was super handy to be able to access the SUV, it stood up to wind, was easy and fast to put together once you figure out the straps (though two people definitely makes it easier, especially if one is tall), has lots of little handy loops and pockets inside, and lots of attention to detail in the design.I fully expected to need to waterproof the seams, but they have plastic sewn in and don’t leak. I do wish there was more than one door, but that’s such a minor complaint compared to how good this tent is.It’s very big and tall! My 6’2″ boyfriend could stand up with lots of extra headroom, and we were joking that we could have a small dance party in there. We put a double bed mattress in it, and it felt like we could have put a king in.The pegs are even nicer than normal. We bought foam floor puzzle pieces to line the floor and that made it even more luxurious. All in all it really helped make our trip a success and we’ll be using it lots in the future.

Design and Materials are great. It would have been better if it came with a vestibules. Aside from that I love the design , I love the size and the materials are very sturdy. One of my best buys from amazon
