Compact & Lightweight | Easy to Extend & Collapse | Sturdy & Safe
Iâm reviewing the IEJ ultralight collapsible hiking pole. This walking stick is great. When folded up, it very light weight and very compact. The strap is a decent weight material that makes it comfortable to wrap over your hand while gripping the ergonomic handle. The way that that the hiking pole extends is pretty clever and unique, than any other hiking pole Iâve used. You first extend each of the lower section inserting one section into the other, and the last section, that is just below the plastic ring, pull it out just enough so that the 3 sections tighten up and you hear the pin pop out right near the plastic ring. Once you hear that click of the pin, those sections are now nice and tight and solid as if it where one. Now the last part is adjusting the top section incrementally, to fit your height and then simply lock it into place with the flip lock compression buckle. Noteâ¦one small complaint that I have is regarding the material they used for a single steel screw that was for the flip lock compression buckle. It was a bit rusty when I received it. It didnât effect any of the functionality of the part at all. I simply cleaned it up the first time I used it. I just thought maybe the manufacturer should consider a different material or coating to keep the screw from rusting. But that small item doesnât take away fro the over quality of this hiking pole. Both my wife and I have used this hiking pole and both agree that it is great find and would definitely recommend.

Interesting Design
I tried to figure out why it doesn’t lock into place for all the lower sections. I figured to look at the images on Amazon and now I know why. You need to extend the third section by sliding down from the chrome and it will lock into place by stretching the cable to its maximum point. There’s a pin that will pop out to lock it similar to an umbrella. The instructions don’t tell you about it clearly but yes, there is a hidden pin. When you’re done with the trekking stick, you can push the pin and slide it down to relax the inner cable. In that moment, you can fold it up just like a camping tent’s frame. All this time, I thought it was a flawed design. Realizing that there’s a portion you need to extend to lock it in place is worth the stick. Once extended, it was solid. Other than that, the trekking stick is made very well. It will help support your walks and hikes easily. It can handle some of your weight you transfer over to it easily. As for the materials used, it’s very durable and pretty solid. As for the grip, it’s basically your EVA foam type but shaped to the contours of your grip. It comes with a tip as well as a rubber tip too. There’s even a flared tip to assist in snow or soft dirt. Overall, this is a pretty solid trekking stick that it will be easier to understand and use if you pay attention to the Amazon images versus looking at a vague instruction pamphlet. It’s well worth it when you want something that can be compact and easily fit in your backpack.

This is a very convenient and welcome piece of gear when hiking on the trail. It collapses fairly compact to fit into your pack. The included instructions could be better to explain and illustrate how to set up the pole. After figuring out how to lock it in place, it all made sense after that. Love that it’s adjustable to account for different heights.

This folding ultralight hiking pole arrived contained within a drawstring bag. A snow tip, whistle (?) and instructions were also included.Let’s cut to the chase. This pole isn’t good. Unless they received a different product than me, be wary of other reviewers giving it a positive rating.The primary factor of any hiking pole is that it needs to be sturdy. This isn’t. There’s no way to securely connect the three sections of the pole. They just loosely slide over one another and easily become disconnected. This makes the pole dangerous for use. You can’t rely on it. Given this flaw, I don’t know that anything else matters about it. It’s a bad design. I don’t recommend this product.All in all, I’m disappointed with this trekking pole. Should my experience with it change in the future, the review will be updated.
