Quality and compact unit that meets expectations and then some
I spent a good amount of time going through a bunch of manufacturers of these type of walking/light jogging machines and finally decided on the XTERRA Folding Smart Treadmill. Knowing that I and the wife are primarily using this for fast walking I wanted to have a unit that had a power incline along with a more powerful motor that was capable of getting into the fast jogging to running mode so I knew that in fast walking mode the motor would have no issues accommodating that and wouldn’t strain under that load.I will say that it came boxed well with the usual scrapes and tears that come with something of this size. Although it is billed as foldable and compact, it is a much heavier unit than I realized and it will take two people to get it to its destination even with it folded down. I had no intention of trying to store this unit or fold it up again once it got to its destination but because it was not as wide or long as some treadmills which was one of my primary concerns, this unit fit that bill nicely. The controls are easy enough and the machine is very quiet. I like that the tablet holder is a full size one that has no issue holding a 10″ Fire tablet that I listen to podcasts or audible on while walking. This is a Smart unit and has the FTMS ability built in that essentially allows the unit to broadcast information to various apps such as Zwift, Kinomap, BitGym etc if you are looking for a way to spice things up or gamify your usage. It comes with a free no credit card trial of KinoMap which is neat but I am more focused on listening during my walks. There are probably more of these apps out there and as long as it supports the FTMS protocol then I suspect it will work with this device.Other than pulling up the handles and display and making sure they are locked in there is truly no setup. There is a heart rate monitor built in that senses your heart rate when holding onto the handles with the built in sensor which is surprisingly pretty darn accurate. If you are into any of the Peloton type of guided workouts than I would suggest downloading the Xterra App as it is free with the purchase and has a bunch of guided sessions as well as it has the ability to track your progress using the data from each session on the treadmill. The power incline works very well and I vary that during my 20-30 minute walks and was something I wanted in a treadmill like this and it does not disappoint. All in all this was a good purchase and as of now it looks like it will stand the test of time and has met our expectations for this type of usage.

Wonderful features and qualities for an entry level treadmill.
For starters this is every bit as heavy as stated. Mine was delivered by Amazon who left it at my back door. This meant I had to get it through my converted garage, up three steps, through the kitchen, across the hall and finally into my den. I didnât have anyone to help me so this is what I did. Once I got it in the house, I opened the package, I removed the side rails and control panel and moved them to where I was ultimately going to set up. I unboxed the base and dragged it motor end down. I did this in three sessions. The hardest part is getting it where you want it. The assembly was very easy. Just follow the direction to not tighten the screws at first. There is a bit of up and down to align the screws. Now for the review. I am impressed with the quality. I love the long deck. Iâm only 5â2â but I have long legs and a long stride. The motor is whisper quiet. I do have a problem with the belt shifting to the right, but I think that has more to do with my gait. It self corrects if I just run it for a minute or so. I have never been on a treadmill before and getting the speed right is still a work in progress. I know first hand that the emergency stop key works. Donât fiddle with your fitness tracker while walking. I havenât used the incline yet, but even in its neutral position there is the slightest incline much like a city street. What would I change? A back lit display would have been nice and I doubt it would change the price very much. The one thing I find very annoying is that using the table/phone stand means you canât see the display. They could have easily moved the display to one side and putting the holder on the other. There arenât any buttons on either side of the display just a graph of the different programs. Finally, those are not cup holders. I donât know what they are for. I ordered a clip on water bottle holder. I also havenât tried folding it. It seems too heavy to be stable folded and it will not be easy to move.Overall I think this was a great buy and great quality for the price.

When I bought this treadmill I wanted one inexpensive, without all the bells and whistles, and which was light and (relatively) portable. This product delivered all of this. I have been running daily on this for a year and a half and it still works well.Issues:1. Assembly is easy2. Initially had squeaking of the belt while running, but not walking. You must have this treadmill perfectly level–I discovered by basement floor is not level. I leveled the treadmill, lubed it with silicon, and tightened the belt–and now the squeaking gone–but I had to fiddle with it for a while.3. Minor complaint is the display for calories rolls back to zero after 1000 calories. Miles run is in a tiny box while the speed is in a huge box–I wish it were reversed, since I usually run at a constant speed, but check the miles run frequently.I bought this for much less than the current price, and compared to the competition–you can pay a lot more than 500 or so dollars for basically the same appliance. AND it is very light–I can, with effort, move it upstairs from the basement by myself, while most full scale treadmills require two strong individuals to move. While I had some small, niggling complaints, thus far the treadmill has been reliable and works well for a man over 200 pounds.

Update: so it’s been a few months, and it’s still going strong! After about two uses, the LED screen stopped working. It would quickly just fade to black, so it was useless. Thankfully, the treadmill works just fine without it. I just use a watch to track the time, and I never trust treadmills to track calories anyways. I had contacted support for warranty and they said it’d be about 3 months for a new part to arrive, but it never came. No biggie. As I said, it works fine without. For such a cheap treadmill, it doesn’t surprise me that something stopped working so quickly. I’m just glad it was the screen and not something more important.Didn’t follow delivery instructions, but that’s on Purolator and not Xterra. Just figured I’d mention it, in case anyone else was relying on delivery instructions. We live in the basement and asked them to deliver to the back door (easy to access), and yet they still delivered to the front door. Being over 100lbs, it was a pain in the butt to carry through the snow just to get it to the back door.On that note, it’s HEAVY. Took two of us to get it inside and down the stairs. If you’re a weakling like me, get at LEAST one other person who is strong to help you out. The weight Purolator weighed it as was 114lbs. Plus, the box doesn’t have any handles or really anywhere convenient to grab it.As for assembly, it was very, very quick and easy to assemble. Took me about 20mins total to unbox it and put it all together. I haven’t tried lubricating it yet (says to do that after about 90hrs of use), so we’ll see how hard that is when I get to it.Looks nice, runs smoothly. Fairly quiet. It is rather small (particularly skinny), but I don’t sway much while jogging so I am not overly concerned about it. I actually bought it because it is small, and I didn’t want it to take up too much space. It is very easy to fold up, which is nice.Overall, I am very pleased with it. Not pleased with Purolator, but the treadmill itself seems nice.I will update this review in a month or two, based off of how well it’s performing. I have read that some develop error codes and become useless after a while, so we’ll see if the same happens to mine or not.
