New to the healthy food world –
Helped kick start my healthy foods journey!!
I’ve been going through a “weight-loss journey” for several months and it’s so easy to fall into a food rut when you’re trying to eat healthily and stick to a routine. This book has given me so many tasty recipes that I’m able to feel good about making, plus most recipes have pretty short cook times (around 20-30 mins)! Kim does a great job of laying out the foundation for making healthier choices (like the importance of cleaning out your pantry) and it’s easy to follow along. She even shares a meal plan! This book has quickly become a favorite in my house and I’m so happy to have it!

A different take on detox.
I think that this book is more about detox in the sense of “detox by omission” rather than an active 2 week detox plan. This actually is better in my eyes, because the recipes seem a bit more palatable than ones that are designed to flush you out. What I mean is that after 2 weeks on this, you have detoxed through the omission of toxic foods in your diet during this time, while still being able to enjoy some tasty meals (as compared to an active detox of 2 weeks of kale smoothies). I think it is a good approach and the author has some credibility in the field. Losing weight while following this is just a plus. There are also enough recipes that you should be able to put together a two week plan and have some flexibility to mix things up a bit as you repeat this down the road.

Great tips and recipes for healthy eating with a weight loss bonus
This book will become a part of my kitchen long after the 14 days are up. The recipes are delicious and I love the menu which was full of variety. This does not feel like a restrictive diet (in fact most days it was too much food for me) but the bonus of eating clean, healthy, non processed food resulted in a welcome dip on the scale. If you want to lose weight or just focus on putting healthy food in your body then this book is for you.

HEALTHY RECIPES, NOT PRACTICAL OR MY IDEA OF DETOX — A MISLEADING TITLE
If you’re looking for a regular cookbook that uses healthy ingredients and offers spicy recipes requiring ingredients not typically stocked in most kitchens, then this is the book for you. Detox? Not technically. Just the end result. The author of this book has credientials and knows nutrition. As a cookbook, it offers plenty of healthy recipes that, indeed, are made with REAL food and eliminate reliance on sugars, salt, canned and pre-packaged ingredients, and offers substitutions for unhealthy ingredient choices. That, in itself, DOES help to detox one’s body with select food choices as an end result of eating clean and healthy.HOWEVER, I made the mistake of ordering this cookbook based on a reviewer’s comments about how easy the recipes were and that the ingredients were found commonly in kitchens. If that means chickpeas, quinoa, zucchini, hemp hearts, tahini, hummus, champagne vinegar, monk fruit sweetener, Worcestershire sauce, bell peppers, fresh herbs, shellfish, lamb shoulder, tofu, bison, fire-roasted crushed tomatoes, just to name a few, then I guess everyone has a well-stocked kitchen except me. Get my drift? The majority of the ingredients ARE NOT in my cupboard … I don’t eat or like them … or am deathly allergic to or cannot digest the majority of these ingredients. I consider these ingredients in the exotic realm of spices, herbs, meats/fish, vegetables, condiments, dressing substitutes, etc. I WOULD GO BROKE STOCKING MY PANTRY WITH ALL THE INGREDIENTS REQUIRED IN FOR THESE RECIPES.For me, I like to eat plainer, healthy food (paleo actually) without all the extra spicy fuss, muss, and lengthy ingredients. These recipes remind me of dishes I’d order in a restaurant, NOT MAKE AT HOME. I don’t want or need this level of meal prep. The end result will be a detox of the body, but the author has absolutely NOT TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT diet restrictions, health issues, food allergies, interactions with medications, digestion issues, and atypical food choices that that people actually don’t like for a variety of reasons. Sadly, this cookbook is of no value to me. I was expecting an actual 2-week body detox on the order of smoothies, green drinks, drastic reduction in food intake and types of foods. This book is not that. There literally isn’t a recipe that doesn’t contain ingredients I cannot eat, or like. I don’t consider a detox cookbook to be the end result of just eliminating sugar, salt and bad ingredients and replacing my diet with foods I can’t eat and exotic recipes that aren’t appealing and require considerable investment in ingredients not typically found in my well-stocked kitchen. Pass. This book appeals to a limited audience. In other words, this cookbook isn’t about detoxing your body first for 14 days and offering some good recipes going forward that appeal to everyone. It’s about about the overall end result of never eating toxic ingredients in the first place by using daily recipes that will not be the norm for most people, are on the exotic spice and ingredient side, and require a large investment in ingredients most of us don’t stock in our kitchens.

Clear, concise guidance
What initially struck me about this is that not only is it written by a dietician but it’s judgement free. We pick up a book like this because we are looking for help and if we are slapped immediately with, what you do is bad, only do it my way it can be off putting. This is absolutely not the case, the approach is friendly, easy to understand and lays out your options.I like the breakdown of healthy vs. unhealthy pantry staples, freezer items etc. One list laid out all the ways companies list sugar. There is a discussion on organic vs. not and if you can only do one, where to place your focus. This book covers all budgets and shows you how easily it can be done to eat healthy. I love that there are even ideas for turning down the sweet treat at the office birthday party. There is a comprehensive list of recipes and meal planning and overall is designed to make difficult decisions easy to make when trying to make life altering changes in your diet.

Great ideas!
I love cookbooks. I could flip through them for hours. This cookbook offers some excellent recipes! I would say these are mainly on the super easy to advanced skill level depending on the dish. Most of the dishes have simple and healthy ingredients. I have not cooked anything from this book yet, but I love to flip through books for dinner inspiration every week.As the title suggests, this book has a meal plan calendar built in which is fun! If youâre stumped on what to make, it does the hard work for you and there are several variations. They also have a blank calendar you can make copies of to plan your own meals. For someone like me, this would be great. I struggle with planning meals for my family. My ONLY complaint is that I wish it had photos of each meal. The cover is vibrant and inviting, but the pages are dull, but the content is great.
