Great CVC learning set!
I have a kindergartner and preschooler who really liked this set! I am a teacher so Iâm always looking for fun ways to extend their learning at home.Things I love:-good variance of CVC words. All cards are color coded to match the ârocketâ they go with, which is the vowel sound. This helped my kids a lot. Kindergartner could do this independently. Preschooler needed some help especially to start but started to get the hang of it and needed less prompting.-easy on/off markers and high quality cards to write on.-love the practice of moving the letter tiles to spell the word and also to practice writing the word too. Also love the visual that the card provides. Catering to so many learning styles here!-good quality materials for everything included. This isnât cheapy like some sets you can get.-comes with a little drawstring bag to store everything inThings I would have loved:-letter printed on both sides of the âplanetâ tiles. Simply because it would have made digging and finding the letters easier for my kids. The planets are fine but they arenât really learning about planets and their names, nor can they read the names of them bc they are emerging readers. I know it went with the space theme, but it just seemed a little irrelevant I guess.-directions/suggestions for use. While I was able to figure out a structure for this, being a teacher myself, I feel like I could have benefited from some suggestions on how to really get the best use of the set. I teach upper elementary so Iâm not as familiar with teaching this stuff. I feel like someone who is not a teacher at all might struggle even more to figure out how best to present this to their child. Some directions or suggestions would have been awesome.Aside from those things, itâs a great set. High quality. Would recommend for parents or teachers.

Some cards have pictures that donât match the words
Some are slight oversights like slippers are called âshoeâ but my kid canât cope with a whale labeled âfishâ or a giraffe labeled âdeer.â Additionally, the letters are already beginning to come off the wooden pieces. A positive is that vowels are colored red and consonants are blue which is nice, and he likes the animal pictures on the uppercase letters.

I had to trick them into playing with me. They were like “aw, another learning game…” So I sat down and started trying to spell the words deliberately getting them wrong. Then I was told I was doing it wrong and they took over. Then we did writing tasks and once again I got them wrong and the 8-year-old was all, “let me show you.”
