Great supplement
My 3 year old (soon to be 4) knew quite a few sight words when looking at flash cards, but often stumbled when she came across them in books. She loves the associated activities. I laminated the flash card pages and cut them out. We review them daily and I can honestly say her reading fluency has taken off. She is able to independently read most of the Bob Book collections and mini reads that come with the kindergarten homeschool curriculum she is working on. Iâll definitely be purchasing the 1st grade addition.

Great tool to help early readers!!
I got this book to help me teach my five year old sight words since I didn’t do that as far as I can remember when I was in school. I really don’t know anything about teaching your kid things because when we grew up we only had school for that and I don’t remember that, so I guess they did a good job?Anyway, this book is a really, really great tool to help teach your kid reading. We’ve been working really hard on reading and writing the alphabet but you don’t realize how hard the English language really is until you have someone trying to sound out words and finding that so many of them sound the same and mean something different or have exceptions to the sound rules!I love that this book has enough repetition in each week that the words really get into my kid’s brain. I usually do a week lesson per day because I’m not home schooling, I’m focusing on this task, but you could do either. Even doing a week lesson in one day never takes more than 20 minutes including all the temper tantrums about having to read themselves instead of me doing it.We usually also do a review each day to make sure the past sight words are still known and I made flash cards, but this book is such a great tool to keep my kid interested!

Great for teaching tracing, letters, and words.
Loved the book. I had my first grader and pre-k children working together. Great bonding time. Please they will listen to each other. The pre-K increased her knowledge of letters and tracing, not really of the words as a whole. And my First grader thought he was the teacher and it helped him review words that he already knew.

Great Book For Sight Words – Just Right for Kindergarten
Love this book!! This book focuses on what are called “sight words” These are words that traditionally cannot be, or are hard to sound out. According to today’s educationally standard, each Kindergartener is required to learn certain sight words. The goal of this workbook, by the end of each week to: (1) read, (2) write three new sight words and (3) understand their meanings. This book represented about 90% of the sight words my child was required to know by the end of her kindergarten year; each school district’s list is slightly different. This book is a fair reflection of Kindergarten’s sight words. The book has 180 days or 36 weeks of activities. The words and activities get progressively harder. Each week the book introduces three new sight words, such as “big”, “when” and “there”. The week’s individual activities are as follows:(1) On the first day of the week, the child is introduced to and learns 3 sight words. Day 2, the child in expected to locate or find the words in a variety of ways, such as, a word search game. Day 3, the book provides creative and fun activities, such as “color all words yellow that are labeled “big”.” Day 4, the child is directed to read a sentence and place the correct sight word in the _____ blank space within the sentence. And finally, day 5, the child is directed to compose one or two sentences using ALL the sight words. For example, write a sentence about the picture below using the words “big”, “when” and “there”.I began this book at the start of Kindergarten and was able to finish just before the end of the school year. My child’s class did not start doing sight words until the end of the first semester, and they learned about 60 sight words during the year. Had I not started early she would not have completed the book by the time they were completed at school. They moved quickly!! I used this book to give her a head-start and to supplement her school’s sight word list.

Easy to follow
We started this book later into kindergarten because reading has been the biggest challenge for my daughter but once she got the hang of reading common words, she has breezed through this book! The yarn and color-by-word are her favorites! There are pages that it’s suggested to cut out and create flash cards but it would require photocopying the page as you’d be cutting into the activity for the next day. We follow tracing and writing exercises on these pages, but don’t cut out. Seems to work perfectly fine this way!

Great to get ready for kindergarten.
A must have for little ones. My daughter is going into kindergarten next year and this book has been great to get her ready. We have done a bunch of the 180 days kindergarten books to prep her. Her reading and comprehension is outstanding. I think itâs in large part due to these books. Itâs a great opportunity to sit and learn together. The reading 180 days was another great one so I could help her learn to sound out words and tie sounds of 2 letters together. I canât recommend them enough. They make such a difference.

As an Elementary teacher, I love the variety of skills in this book for emerging readers and writers. It’s perfect for my 3 year old, who thinks she is the bees-knees for doing a SCHOOL book!!

Learn how to read in just a few weeks!
Love this book! My son who is in kindergarten couldnât read. But by week 7 in this book he can now read sentences. It teaches 3 new words every week and has you do 5 different things with the same words every week to help you remember them. Would give this book more stars if I could.
