Love the pop-its, not sure about the cards/spinners
Honestly, I love the pop-its and give them 4 stars, but the phonics cars/spinners I am unsure about. The word family lists have some nonsense words, not all real words – which I could just make up on my own. The ‘e’ spinner is confusing because the ‘e’ is on one side, while the arrow is pointing to a word on the opposite side, but the ‘e’ is upside-down for that word on the right, so you need to read the word on it’s left with the ‘e’ added – it’s even confusing to try to explain! For the pop-its themselves, it’s great that there are letters printed on both sides and they are not identical, so when my son spells his name (with two a’s in it), he will have enough letter blocks – and same for other words and names with duplicate letters. On the downside, since all of the vowels on the white side are red (which is a good thing for teaching vowels), there are random consonants on the colorful/opposite side that are red (f,r,l,v,z). It may have been more beneficial to keep vowels only on each side of the red, but switch to a different vowel. For example, ‘a’ on one side and ‘u’ on the other, etc.Overall, they are SUPER fun to POP and great for literacy instruction OR quiet play.

Pop alphabet is a fun, tactile tool; most of the rest is not useable
I like having a tactile and auditory tool like this to help teach reading (as long as it is not distracting for the child). This kit has 1 pop block per alphabet letter – I like the white side of the blocks which have consonants in blue and vowels in red. The other side of the blocks have different colors and different letters. So on this side, the blocks are all in random colors and random letters are in red – which is very confusing. Since you only have 1 of each letter, you need to sometimes use this side. For example- if there are two e in one word, you need to use the other side of a v to get your e. That means that although the block in the second e sacred, the second e is not red. Could be confusing if you are trying to teach vowels. Also on this side, the letters in red are: Z, v, r, l, f. I threw away the phonics cards as I thought the sentences were often stilted and sometimes even grammatically incorrect. Word choice in many instances was poor. In addition, too much was put on each card (size of a regular playing card) so the pictures tiny. The wheel charts have some use but there will be a lot of nonsense words. You can attach the blocks to another one to make words but this often takes more hand strength and coordination than the average age child learning to read would have. So the letter blocks are a potentially useful but limited tool to work with one child at a time. The wheels might be useful but the phonics cards SHOULDNâT all be used. I wish there were more white blocks instead of the other materials. I will end up just using these for CVC words. So if you want this type of letter pop block see if you can find a set with more standard colored letters. The phonics additions here are not worth the money.

Not my favorite
The phonics activity was challenging for me to use. It wasn’t easy to figure out which picture went with which words on the word family cards. Some words were nonsense and not easily understood. The punctuation (if any) was incorrect in matching a picture with sentences, and it was challenging to figure out which sentences went with which pictures. There were two wheels. You can use them for real words and nonsense words, but I found it could have been more engaging. The pop-up blocks were difficult because it took so long for the students to find the appropriate block, which made it difficult to blend the word. They also needed to fit better together.Be aware of the activities your students do with these. They are not very effective at teaching phonics skills, and I probably won’t use them in the future.

Love the pop-up blocks
Was excited to get this to assist with my grandkids learning when I gave them. The spinner is a bit much. My oldest might understand how it works, but not the younger ones.I would be willing to use the cards since they all like to do writing and flash cards.I donât know if Iâll use the pens included since the youngest likes to draw at his age.The pop- up blocks will be a great aid.

Engaging, attractive, and tough learning tool!
All children deserve to have every educational boost a parent can provide. This set of learning games plugs into hands on, and multisensory learning games to give your child or student multiple options for engaging in learning. This set caters to multiple learning styles. If you plan on using this in a classroom, the cards are nicely made and sturdy. Every piece is well though out and colorful making this an engaging set to add to your home classroom or school. I’m really hoping to see the child I work with improve his skills. It seems pretty miraculous that we can buy these things online. Absolutely wonderful product.

Fun way to learn
This is a great way to teach kids grammer rules in a fun way. My kids love the pop its, and the games were fun for them. The instructions weren’t really written well. I think it was written by people who doent speak English. That being said, the toy is good and it is easy to make your own games. Good for kindergartens!

Most of it wasnt helpful
There was a lot of grammar issues with the set. It mostly ended up being used for the 4 single pop pop-its. We like scrambling the letters we write on them having them rearrange it and pop them while sounding it out. That one item made the whole set have any value.

Incorrect Grammar
I really like this for the popping pieces. Itâs a great idea and has helped with reading. But the cards have sentences with wording that you can tell was written by someone foreign. We donât use the cards because of this. If this was corrected it would be a 5 star product!
