Perfect for OG lessons
The book works well for the reading section of my Orton-Gillingham lessons. I am using a letter-sound sequence that makes this text very accessible for my student and there are only a few “unfair” words. It’s not enough to be distracting, and my student can remember them if I point them out prior to the reading. Yes, the story is simple and the words can be repetitive…which really is perfect for building confidence and automatic recognition of previously-introduced spellings.

Great books for dyslexic children
My 9 year old is dyslexic and we love these books!! I highly recommend them. We started with book one and now we will be going through the whole series. They’re also a great price for what we get. These books build on each other to make a stronger reader.

Great book for dyslexic kids!
I sit next to my dyslexic son when he is reading this book, we have now done 4 chapters, 2 more to go! The words repetition is crucial to dyslexics!! And the story are fun for a young child, not boring at all. 5 stars!

My son likes these books
My 8 year old 3rd grader is reading at an early 2nd grade level. We have read book 1 and 2 so far. They are more kindergarten or early 1st grade reading level for a child who does not have difficulty learning to read. My son has not been diagnosed as dyslexic at this point but I truly believe that will be the result after his testing is complete. He likes these books because they are thick and look like the books his class mates are reading. I like that there aren’t a lot of pictures to be distracting. What I don’t like is the stories are a little harder to comprehend because of the way they are written. I understand the use of sight words over and over, but we don’t talk the same way these are written so he has a harder time understanding.I will purchase the next book to keep up with the extra practice at home.

Highly recommend. Not your average reader
Purchased this for my dyslexic daughter. Finally, a reader she can read without struggling. The author has somehow put words together in a slow progression to help the struggling reader find some success. Highly recommend. Not your average reader!

These books have made such a difference. Our daughter had a speech delay which lead to a reading delay possibly due to dyslexia. These books have been a huge boost to her confidence and she’s enjoying reading for the first time ever.If your child struggles with levelled readers go decodable.

Great thing about this book is the decodable reading, which makes it very sustainable for early readers or readers who need extra help work on phonetic sounding to learn to read rather than relying on sight words or rote learning. The bad thing is that it was very hard to engage our young reader (kindergarten) as the story is quite non-sensical so these books would’nt be great if you need to improve comprehension skills. We only lasted maybe 5 pages, so maybe it does get better and would be great to practice phonetic sounding out of words as it is repetitive, but my child is not keen to take up again.
