Very detailed
Very detailed book. Would say would be best for junior high and up as it was too advanced for my kids. I enjoyed it

Accurate, hands-on, high quality
We are using this with my homeschooled daughter alongside the documentary series âBefore 1491â. Excellent hands-on activities so that she can create and cook while I read the information to her. I bought this book in particular because it is highly recommended by indigenous people

Using this with our homeschool curriculum
We are using this as part of our spine for Blossom and Roots River of Voices homeschool curriculum. My 10 year old daughter is enjoying it.

Great as a history book of sorts
I have skimmed this book so far. Itâs fantastic as a detailed description and history of all the various nations. While there are crafts/activities as well, they seemed geared a bit more to older kids than I expected. I think I will hold on to the book for a year or two and then share with my kids in digestible chunks. (Thereâs a ton of text – well done, but just a lot to get through.)

Missing pages, otherwise good
The book is good overall and goes with our homeschooling curriculum. We like the respectful treatment of Native Americans. However pages 51-66 are Missing from this book. It has great activities for my 4 and 8 year old that weâve enjoyed. But The text is a little too advanced for them and there arenât enough illustrations. They lose interest quickly. I had to break it into really tiny chunks and even then itâs difficult to keep my 8 year old engaged in the text. But they do love the activities.

I checked it out from the library.
I got this book from the library to see if it would help with a homeschool unit on Native American history. The crafts look enjoyabe. Even though this is a “native american” history book, I would not use this exclusively for the lessons. It does break down the tribes by region, but there is not much in the way of illustrations to go with the stories. It is also interesting to note that in the map, WV is completely left out of the country. It does not show up in the Norteast, Southeast, or Midwest region. It is as if there is a hole in the country where WV was.I will use this for some crafts and maybe a few stories to supplement other resources, but it isn’t something to be used on its own to teach. I am glad that I got it from the library and that I didn’t buy this one.

Little Content
I had high expectations for this book since it was recommended by a homeschool curriculum and had been sold out for so long. When I got it I found the activities boring and content lacking. It also only had one tribe from Texas.
