Ignore the message of this book to your own peril!
Imagine my delight on that October 27 day when I saw a Prime box delivered to my address. I remembered what should be inside⦠the New Kind of Diversity book by Tim Elmore! First, let me begin by saying that the book itself is a beautifully published Hardcover (always my preference), dust jacket with wonderfully eye catching artwork, and easy to read print on a nice cream colored stock. Now the content: there are a whole lot of âpreachyâ books out there on the subject of diversity. Whose entire purpose seems to be to make one faction guilty of the other factionsâ ills. Not so with this one. This is an honest look at the different generations alive today, especially those represented in the workforce. Without giving the whole book away, let me just say how easy it is to learn the different generations by what makes them unique. Tim also makes it easy to understand the generational diversity concepts and explain them to others. I can sit across the table with a team member of a different generation, quickly identify what makes us unique, and how we might approach different things wellâ¦. Differently. And that doesnât make one bad and the other good. When you learn the principles in the book, youâll discover how to build bridgesânot wallsâwhen it comes to making generational diversity a strength on your team.In the book, Tim Elmore also teaches some new concepts that are sure to pique your curiosity.âwhy effective leaders play chess not checkersâ-guard dogs or guide dogsâ-the art of âreverse mentoringMy favorite chapter is the one that addresses a core issue that is key not only to this topic, but for all of lifeâ¦âLife is about managing preferences, tensions, and expectations.â No truer statement has ever been written!I flat out love this book. Inside the book there is an opportunity to take a free GQ (Generational Quotient) Assessment. Definitely take that. It will be eye opening.

Great book to help unite the different age groups
The book was extremely well written and insightful. I liked how Dr. Elmore says away from stereotypes and shares how we can understand our differences. He focuses learning how we can build bridges. I would have liked a few more examples used from Dr. Elmore’s experiences to help understand the details a little better but I believe this a book anyone can benefit from.

Tim Elmore hits an endless string of home runs.
John Maxwell and Tim Elmore are my top two influences as a leader and author. I credit these men as KEY influences in my life dating back to their pastor-days at Skyline Church. Elmore has hit home run after home run with all his books. I could not even say how many people I’ve bought his books for! This one is another in a long string of great books. I didn’t used to have any challenges bridging the generations when I was in the middle. Now I’m older, and I’ve got multiple generations behind me… that I find I am understanding less and less as the gap widens. This book has shed some much-needed light.I am one of those that believes there’s good and bad in every generation’s broad-stroke culture… and complaining is in vogue these days – so it was useful to dig into common virtues and common super powers of the generations I too often hear only complained about by us older-people.There really is a lot of genuis to be found in great collaboration. Thank you, Tim, for doing the heavy lifting part of the work that helps me get the treasure quickly.

Great Book on Generational Diversity at Work
If you manage 1 or 101 people you need to read this book. It gives you great insight on each generation and how best to serve them.

Every leader should read this book
This is an excellent, well-written resource for building bridges across generations. Everyone has value to bring to the table. Tim brings practical methods for bringing out the best in all generations in the workplace. This will be a helpful resource for me in leading Gen Z’s as I walked away with a better understanding of the forces that shaped them. As a Gen Xer, I’m especially excited about the concept of reverse mentoring from Gen Z. If we seek first to understand, this can help to bring out the best in those we live and work with. Excellent work Tim.

WOW!! MORE than a Masterclass…a PhD in Generational Diversity
WOW. I noticed it but didn’t really “see it” until I read this book. It all makes sense now. For the first time in history, up to five generations work together in a typical organization, but only 8% of ALL organizations recognize that truth. Like a puzzle, Dr. Elmore helped me properly place the personal pictures of multiple generations into a unified vision with 8K clarity. Now, I feel like I possess the “secret sauce” to +1 all my efforts, plus close many gaps that seem to separate us from each other. Managing a multigenerational workforce can cause friction, OR…it can become your competitive advantage! Buy this book for everyone you know who wants leverage in the marketplace and desires greater impact, influence, and results!!

I love this book. As a people leader, I have team members of varying ages and generations. This book helped to raise my level of awareness of my personal biases and helped me to better understand what may be the perspectives of those from generations other than mine.
