    A Life-Changing Journey Fueled by “Runner’s High”
Dean Karnazes’ “Runner’s High” is a remarkable and truly inspiring book that has left an indelible mark on my perspective towards running and life itself. From the very first pages, Karnazes effortlessly weaves his captivating storytelling with heartfelt moments of triumph, resilience, and self-discovery, making it an absolute must-read for both seasoned runners and those new to the sport. One of the highlights of this book is how Karnazes shares his personal journey and the transformative power of running. Through his vivid descriptions and genuine emotions, he paints a picture of a man who embraces both the physical and mental challenges that running presents. Karnazes imparts invaluable lessons about pushing our limits, conquering self-doubt, and embracing the joy that comes from living life to the fullest. The author’s relentless determination to push through boundaries becomes palpable in his accounts of incredible ultra-marathons and endurance feats. From running 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 consecutive days to completing the infamous Badwater Ultramarathon, Karnazes showcases the human spirit’s incredible capacity for resilience and perseverance. Reading these accounts leaves you with a sense of awe and an overwhelming belief that anything is possible if we set our minds to it.Furthermore, “Runner’s High” offers much more than a mere running memoir. Karnazes delves into the profound connection between running and personal growth, showing us how the physical act of running can have a profound impact on our emotional well-being and overall perspective on life. His reflections on the meditative aspects of running and the ability to find solace amidst chaos resonate deeply, urging us to seek our own version of a “runner’s high” in our lives.I cannot recommend “Runner’s High” enough to anyone seeking motivation, inspiration, or simply a captivating read. Dean Karnazes’ words will leave you feeling empowered, ready to embrace challenges head-on, and eager to uncover your own potential. This book is a testament to the human spirit’s ability to overcome obstacles and find incredible joy in the pursuit of our passions.

A long awaited sequel to Ultra Marathon Man
Living in Europe meant preordering this from the Amazon US site. It arrived last Friday and I had finished it by Sunday. Just a brilliant read and a worthy sequel to Ultra Marathon Man which changed the lives of so many by getting them to start running and so many other runners to explore distances beyond what they thought previously possible. If you came away from Dean’s first book thinking he was superhuman, you will finish this book and think he is just a super human. He has the same doubts and fears as every other runner, husband and father but it is his perseverance and resilience which shines in everything he does. You have less chance than ever of running Western States but this book is as close as you’ll come. Ultra Marathon Man may have got you to lace up your shoes and hit the trails but A Runner’s High will keep you wanting to go out there for the pure pleasure of being able to run. Simply a joy to read.

    Intrinsic inspiration
While Ultramarathon Man motivated me to start running, and constantly inspires my need to leave up my shoes, Runner’s High provides a profound meaning to running that is far less extrinsic than I once thought. The intrinsic nature of getting lost and letting your feet take you where they will is something that is often missing when we focus on the external factors, like race schedules and particular pacing goals. This is just another fantastic read by Dean!

Another great story from Dean Karnazes
I always wanted to know how itp felt to run the Western States 100 race. The last part of the book is a great description of it. This book resonates a lot with me since like the author, I’m getting older and seeing the limits of my body performances shrinking is a bit worrisome. But this book is still very much uplifting by showing that even if aging as a toll, incredible achievements can still be accomplished (of course with the proper training). The rhythm was a bit slow in the first half of the book but it got much faster (and the style better) in the second part of the book.A very entertaining book! Thank you, Dean!

    outstanding book!
I loved this book. On top of the incredible accomplishments and story in itself the ability to use his words to paint such a clear vision so we can truly feel like we are in his wet soggy shoes each step of the way was an emotional journey along each incredible page. Thank you Dean!

La cubierta que se aprecia es removible como en muchos de los casos de pasta dura, para dejar la pasta con un estilo clásico.

Great book about running, and the values that incarnated by most of the ultra runners. A lot humility and simplicity…
