Safe and handy
I really like the barrel lancetts because they keep people and pets from accidental sticks. Even though there is a designated container for a used needle, there are times when it may get dropped and with these, there is no exposed needle. Also not having to put a new needle in device every time is a time saver. I like the fact that when the barrel is empty, the switch on the Lansing device will not turn any more. This is very helpful to blind people. I like everything about this method.

I have been using 21 gauge lancets for fingerstick INR’s (not blood glucose levels) for the past 16 years. I finally decided to use a more automated approach with the Accu-Chek FastClick device. This device uses much smaller (and much more comfortable) 30 gauge lancets. The device uses a skin penetration from a very low level of 0.5 to the highest level of penetration of 5.5. When I first used the Accu-Chek device, I used a level of 2, and the lancet did not even penetrate my skin. I thought it was not working. I contacted Accu-Chek and the advisor told me to use a higher level. I increased the level to 3, and the lancet did penetrate the skin, but only a very tiny drop of blood was produced (about the size of the period at the end of this sentence). This may be enough for a fingerstick blood glucose, but was not sufficient for an INR, which requires a pea-sized drop of blood. I tried again, this time after warming my hand under warm water for a minute in order to increase the blood flow to my fingers. This time, I used a level of 5.5. I was able to get a pea sized drop of blood which was adequate for INR testing. There was essentially no pain with use of the Accu-Chek Fast Click device.

I get exactly the amount of blood I need every time without fail and without pain and itâs shallow enough of a prick that I clean the prick area after with an alcohol wipe and not a single sting. Iâm now able to check my blood sugar every day after Iâve avoided it for so long.

A lot easier to use than what I’m used to
The FastClix is so much easier to use than the monitor system Medicare provided me with. The lancet drums make it so simple to change out lancets without having to risk pricking myself, and being able to adjust the depth ensures that I only have to prick myself once to get the right amount of blood to test with. The testing strips are easier to use and the monitor system seems to be a lot more accurate than my old one. I love it!
