Muchachos, as you all know, Adidas knocked it out of the park with this authentic design…from the nuances (little blue lines across the linen stripes, little slanted wind shear ridge ribs, etc) to the overall texture….everything feels put together…everything feels intricate and fine….and after Argentina’s shock win (it was a surprise win even though I told all my disbelieving friends that ARG could still do a “Spain 2010” having lost the first game- you should have seen the amount of flak I copped just for supporting Argentina esp after the Saudi Arabia game)….anyway after the Messi goal against Mexico (the roof flew off where I was watching in Singapore)….the rest is history as you all know: the tournament turned moment by moment into a tapestry of the most beautiful story in football history (rightly so). And these kits’ value reflect that….right after the WC Final, this kit’s value flew thru the roof…they were sold out by then….not available for the better part of all of December 22 through to maybe July October 2023….and even when they were available, people would continue to snap them up….even though most people were usually getting the replica versions (which are nowhere comparable to these authentic kits). So to cut to the chase: what you have here are some hidden gems…in that these here are the player version…the real Authentic ones that the world cup winning team wore when they weren’t in the Uni dorms bbqing Asados…but even better is that this is the 2023 re-release of the Authentic version of these kit…and this means these now have the 3 stars….the quality is exactly the like the authentic one in 22…absolutely superb and no difference…except that it now has the World Cup winners patch and three stars. What I love about this particular kit is that this also is the US/Euro version…the cutting is even better for us (because my brother and I are a tad on the bigger side – albeit more portly but over 6 foot and wider shouldered etc)…so yeah this version’s just on another level and without a doubt, you’d go a long way to see a kit better than this one for a while. To me, it is one of the greatest kits of all time. Thanks Amazon and thanks Adidas for making this available. I actually reckon this kit will go down in history with the 1970 Pele-Garrincha Brasil kit; the 1986 Maradona Le Coq Sportif Arg kit; the 1990 Adidas Deutschland kit, Roger Milla’s Cameroon Kit; Spain’s 2010 Iniesta kit; Denmark’s Hummel 86; Japan’s 1998 kit; Cruyff’s 74 Adidas long sleeved; and of course France’s 98 Adidas kit…..now of course, this is in large part because of Messi being one of the three greatest of all time (alongside Pele and Maradona) and this kit reflects his career consummation moment of glory, but even that aside, just from an aesthetic design perspective: this kit would have stood on its own….its design elements and intricacies were in a sense designed with Messi’s possible win in mind…the details are embedded (embroidered in) there. It was always going to be in that league as a hall of fame kit. And this is THE version you should get; it will hold its value for sure, Muchachos!Edit Update 25th Jan 2024: I am writing an update (ironically as I am placed on hold by Amazon’s Customer Service team – who try to do a good job as best they can; and as they try to help me return a second order of this item). But therein lies the issue. I read a negative review of this item before I even placed my first order last year (for which my review is the glowing one you see above) and now I understand why. The first time I ordered it was so good I wrote the above review and hence I decided to buy another of these quality shirts for my brother (because of the quality in my first order). Sadly, I now understand why someone else wrote that they received a fake product in one of the reviews here. The second order I made for the second shirt for my brother came and was the replica version instead – which is unconscionable or a mistake at the Amazon warehouse level. The customer service at Amazon is so good you can request an immediate call and I did that – but sadly because the ECMS (the party you have to return the items through) is really hard to reach and when they do you can end up wasting two hours of your time on the phone (some of us need to get back to work), and even though Amazon is really good at their Customer Phone Service, and I hate to give a negative updated review, sadly, my experience being what it is, I can now see why someone else also said they received the replica version (it’s not actually a fake- Adidas made two versions of this shirt – the authentic players’ edition and the replica for fans). Sadly, the second order came and was the replica version (but Amazon put their own label- Adidas’ label was fine- claiming it was the Authentic version but it was not). The whole reason why a customer paid that 100 extra was for it to be the authentic version; so I am afraid it would be false advertising if Amazon inadvertently sold the replica version as if it were an authentic one (I’m in the legal industry by trade hahah but yeah suffice it to say its misrep). I am in the process of returning this item but even that is a nightmare to deal with ECMS couriers and so on; when it’s not our fault as customers, so yeah, look we have to be reasonable as well because mistakes in orders can happen; and one has to be reasonable in that we have to understand the even-out process: there are benefits to online shopping (ease of convenience etc, doorstep delivery, etc), but then one has to also accept the disadvantages that go with that (difficulties in returns and when a wrong item is sent, hours wasted calling back and forth with CS reps no matter how nice they are etc, being dinged and donged from calling the ECMS and back to arrange a pick up time etc). But yeah, so I have to be fair, I can see where the other reviewer is coming from in saying this was not the genuine authentic item. I made two orders – one was perfect and deserving of my earlier review, and the second was a nightmare. To be fair, Amazon have said they will investigate as to why the replica version is being sent instead of the authentic on occasion.Edit Update 03rd April 2024: I decided to see if Amazon would take into account my concerns above in January, and I decided to give them one last chance by seeing if I could get the 2XL for my brother. Alas, what happened is exactly as the other reviewers have stated: I was sent yet another Replica (non player version). Absolutely unconscionable given how much feedback we have given; and the worse thing is the listing is not even at least changed to prevent misrepresentation. I have changed my rating from a 5 star to a 1 star as a result. I am a loyal customer of Amazon, but I’m afraid they have done wrong in this above listing/sale for weeks now; we must not condone it.

The description says Authentic jersey, but it is actually the replica version! No doubt it is from adidas but it was not as advertised.
